Hello.

I recently discovered an interview with BF with Hot Press' Dave Fanning from 2007, where he talks about Eno, and specifically, appears to name the Roxy album that never was.

Is this title common knowledge, or that Eno was only scheduled to appear on one song - possibly titled For You as well?

"It’s great now to be able to work again with Brian without any pressure, and just ring up and ask him to come over and work on this, which he did on one of the tracks on the new Roxy Music album, ‘For You’. He’s quite happy to play a background role sort of thing, and fiddle around with one or two songs as a kind of enhancement of what is already there."

Thank you very much for your contribution. I would like to comment on this. It is really astonishing that the title of at least one song, "For You", was already decided. And that despite Bryan apparently having such big problems with the lyrics...

Looking back, I am sad that they didn't have the courage to release this album back then.

Phil said back then (2006/2007 ?) that they had recorded a few very nice songs and some of them sound fantastic.

It's a shame that he has changed his opinion to the recordings today... or did he have to do it?

It is said that it was not of the quality of the Avalon album, for example, which is why these productions never saw the light of day.

As far as the question of the quality of the recordings goes, they should have let their fans decide.

I would also like to make it very clear that none of the solo albums by Bryan, Phil or Andy have ever reached the quality of the Avalon album, although some are quite nice to listen to.

I would have preferred if they had released this unfinished production for their fans last year rather than releasing these Horoscope/Mamouna recordings.

The Stones, who were very brave, received a lot of praise and recognition for their last album and the tour they have just started... Roxy has been very far away from that since 1982...

Roxy Music once turned the wheel of music history, today they are only mentioned as a marginal note in music magazines.

What a pity.

“ For You” doesn’t strike me as a great Roxy Music title, for song or for an album.
Who really knows? This may have been a tease.
On the other hand , Ferry’s later solo albums have struggled with their titles. Only Olympia cuts it for me.

Thank you for your postings, kleinhond and Uwe: I second most of your thoughts.

To not-die-hard-fans Roxy Music have really become a marginal note in music magazines and a welcome change in the playlists of nostalgic radio stations (MTT, Avalon and Oh Yeah).

But: Yesterday German "Schwarzwaldradio" played Psalm - 8 minutes in broad daylight. You see that sometimes there's hope ...

I note that ‘For You’ is a bonus track on
‘6PM’.

Le freak

Please check 6PM here:

So maybe Phil brought his completed song / just music to the Roxy Music recording sessions, and we all know what the outcome was.

Best wishes.

Graham
