Roslyn Bolton graciously agreed to come to the Roxy Music 2024 Convention in Birmingham to tell the story of the Flesh + Blood cover shoot.

The cover girls were never credited on the album sleeve and their identity was a mystery until just a few years ago.
Roslyn is the girl on the rear of the sleeve.

Wikipedia state that it is Olympian Shelley Mann in the Middle and Aimee Stephenson on the front.
Roslyn confirmed it was a girl called Rachel in the middle who was 18 at the time of the shoot, Olympian Shelley Mann was 43 in 1980

Aimee Stephenson sadly passed away in 2001 as a result of an accident in Peru.

Thanks, John, for sharing this remarkable moment. I wish I had been there so the still looking good Roxy girl Roslyn could havd signed my old copy of F+B as well. The cover is, in my eyes, the second best ever by RM. That my favourite is Country life is probably needless to say.

The F&B art has a freshness about it that has aged particularly well.
Off topic W2 was wondering if any Roxologists or Ferryistas out there have any photographs of ‘The Gas Board’ ?
They are much under discussed which is a shame - they may have been a university band but musically they were no amateurs.
Windswept saw them at Newcastle’s Club A’Gogo in either ‘66 or ‘67 and they did a great soul set. You didn’t get to play that venue unless you were good. Their house band had been ‘The Animals’ who were succeeded by ‘The Junco Partners’ - another great live band.
Ferry used to go into the club a lot and was always immaculately turned out. He often used to sport a white suit - and you needed big cojones to wear that in the Gogo. It was gangster central.

Postscript - W2 was once contacted by a production company who said they were making a documentary about Graham Simpson (also ex Gas Board). Does anybody know if anything ever happened?

Miranda Little is producing this documentary but it seems to be one of those lost projects as years keep passing by. I would love to see it completed as all members (sans Eno) plus Richard Williams have been interviewed and filmed.

I saw an early sample at the Notting Hill film festival in 2010 and was lucky enough to meet Graham and talk to him briefly. Miranda and Sara (her colleague at the time) were delighted I had approached him to talk about those early days.

Yes he was a member of the Gas Board along with John Porter and Mike Figgis the film maker. Don’t know any other names but I once heard Lauren Laverne’s father was involved?

I’ve seen a photo of the band by a monument somewhere, maybe even on this site - I will have to check.
