The 8 CD set appeared for a short while on US Amazon as a pre-order. I can't remember the exact price but it was not OTT. I think it was around $80 or $90.

Bang a Gong was, of course, Get It On over here - but the US censors decided that it was too risque a title for the delicate American listeners. Presumably, on that basis, Marvin Gaye had success Stateside around the same time with Let's Bang A Gong ? What a passion killer !

With this as a model, the 8-CD Roxy Complete reissue will be listed at well more than $100 in US. In Britain it will be around £100.

They know that those of us who purchase will be buying most of it for at least the third time (LP, then CD, now this set), so I'm sure they wouldn't expect it to shift at £100, DCJ.

I'll lay you a sportsman's bet (e.g. a drink if ever we should meet!) that it will half that at most. At least that's what I'm hoping!

I hope for your sake that it's less than £100 in Britain, and maybe it will be. But I can't see it listing for less than say £79 if it is truly "deluxe".

I think they (i.e. BF and the record company) will perceive a relatively inelastic market for the 8 CD set and thus have little incentive to moderate the price. But we shall (eventually) see what transpires...

As for me, I'm more interested in the deluxe reissues of the individual CDs that (hopefully/presumably) will contain previously unavailable material. We'll see what transpires...

I agree with many of the suggestions already posted here, something similar to that of the Suede re-issues last year. Any demo material that may still be available, discarded recording session material of an album "in progress" is always of interest, and builds a picture of how it was all put together. Please no re-mixes they serve no purpose, and are just a cheap space filler in my opinion. Having said all this I'm really looking forward to the finished article.

This album will be realeased in 2013 or 2019?
I don"t believe in any good thing, actually in anything, about Roxy.
The page is over.
Even an anniversary album seems to be a kind of "the monster of Lochness"...
I am really tired about all these things.

I thought it was over in 76. It was over in 82. It actually finished in 78/79. Until 2001 when it started again.

Despite living near Loch Ness for over 20 years and at one time on the banks of the loch, I have only seen Nessie once, so I am not sure it is real. :-)

Hopefully, when this comes out,we will get something of interest. There may not be much left in terms of unreleased songs ,but there are demos such as this from 1980. Link below. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YjI6vaSEWNM

Just as a point of interest, for the 40th anniversary of ziggy stardust there has been a documentary on radio two fronted by Gary Kemp and various magazine coverage. How much coverage will there be for another 40th anniversary release?
