You may find that Bryan/Roxy's record company Virgin EMI is up for sale and this may put some of their releases on hold until the future of the company is sorted.

As far as I know his latest album is pretty close to completion.

Wonder whether this will also have any impact on the planned deluxe re-issue of Roxy Music album one? If it misses its slot it will be the 41st anniversary edition . Any updated information on when it may be released would be much appreciated John.

If this is then case then it's not an excuse it is a reason. Roxy/Ferry could not be blamed as the spadework has been done by them for the deluxe edition.

How would the Virgin/EMI issue effect new Ferry product as he is/or was out of contract with Virgin. Shame if it doe's effect the re-issue of the first album as regardless of blame it'll be a big disappointment if it misses this year though I have reservations as to it coming out this year anyway.

According to yesterday's Telegraph report a decision on whether the Universal take-over of EMI is to get approval could be as early as today.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/news ... ie-up.html

The implications seem to be that the Virgin label will remain under Universal's control so, assuming that Ferry's new material is planned for release by them, it would seem to remove potential obstacles to its release. As to RM album one deluxe version, surely EMI must have it on a schedule of planned release dates for the rest of this calendar year even if they haven't gone public with a date.

Interesting that if you look through the list of EMI artists on their website and click on Roxy Music it brings you to this very website as opposed to a site that is officially artist-controlled. So you now seem to be the official mouthpiece of Roxy, John! :)

Interesting to see what will happen when all the dust has settled.

Why did Phil thik they had almost completed an album? That's what gets me in all this. Was he trying to bounce BF into doing it? Backfired somewhat.

Back in 2005-06 Roxy spent a significant amount of time in the recording studio - and even Eno participated in the 2006 sessions. There was no question but that a lot of work was done on a album. Then after the Roxy 2006 summer tour BF went on to record Dylanesque and things never got back on track for completing and releasing the new Roxy album.

The reason that PM thinks that Roxy almost completed an album is because that is exactly what happened. For reasons only known to himself, BF balked when it came time to press "send" and release the album for public consumption. There is no question but that a multitude of tracks recorded by PM, AM, TGPT, BF and Eno still reside on encryption-protected hard drives, but when they might ever be released for the pleasure of the great unwashed masses is unknown. It's basically a decision that BF has to agree to... Who knows if he ever will...
