Post subject:  The Roxy Room at Pips

Does anyone remember The Roxy/Bowie room at Pips disco in Manchester ("Behind the Cathedral" - the Granada tv ad used to point out helpfully) in the 1970's?
It's one of my biggest regrets that I never went.
My friend, who lived in nearby Rossendale, had some older pals and was a regular, in a kind of "slightly tubby white duke" powder blue suit and fedora hat look I recall.
I lived in Blackburn but was way too unworldly to venture to the big city 25 miles away for a club night out.
There was an impossibly glamorous couple used to mooch around Blackburn bus station called Brian and Sheila, they were obviously off there every week as us local oiks arrived in town to hit the pubs, they were a vision of everything you aspired to look like as a Roxy fan.
I did get a GI shirt and a Roxy Music arm patch eventually but Blackburn barbers could never get a handle on the Ferry hairdo and at 5ft 7 I was never able to carry off the tall, handsome lounge lizard look.
What memories do people have of being a fan/other fans around that time?
