Roxy's 'Love Is The Drug' is nominated in this poll, which will.result in the award of an honorary Number 1 by the Official Chart Company. Personally I'm surprised 'Dance Away' wasn't chosen as it had a much more impressive chart run and was number 1 on at least one other chart, but not the official chart. I just voted. Note there are some 100 tracks to choose from and the top 40 as voted for by the public will be run down on BBC radio 2. So, while Roxy are unlikey to be voted as no. 1, we can still do our bit to get it into the top 40 and in the rundown. A word of warning - individuals should not try and vote for LITD something silly like 20 times, as perceived 'rigged' voting will result in the track being disqualified. An extra vote here or there should not matter though. |

Quote: Personally I'm surprised 'Dance Away' wasn't chosen as it had a much more impressive chart run and was number 1 on at least one other chart, but not the official chart. The list of no. 2 singles was not chosen simply by sales alone, but by the panel's personal preference. So influential songs, and songs that have stood the test of time will be included, although some would have also sold in large quantities too. If it was by sales alone then Dance Away would have been chosen, as official estimates put its UK sales as high as 750,000 - more than double LITD. Note that Dance Away was the 57th best selling UK single of the 1970s - (some updated charts show slightly different placing) - and was till recent times one of the top 20 selling singles of all time in the UK not to make number 1. |
