HI,
I WONDERED IF ANY MEMBERS OF THIS FORUM WERE ORIGINALLY IN THE "OFFICAL ROXY MUSIC FAN CLUB" IN THE 70`S WHICH WAS RUN AND PRINTED BY MR PETER LEAY ?.
I WAS A MEMBER ,AND HAVE HELD ON TO EVERYTHING I COULD GET MY HANDS ON,NEWSLETTERS, PHOTO`S AND BADGES,THATS NOT INCLUDING EVERYTHING ELSE I HAVE COLLECTED OVER THE YEARS.
WHAT I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IS WHEN DID THE FAN CLUB FIRST START ? WHEN WAS THE FIRST NEWSLETTER SENT OUT ? WHAT MONTH ? MY FIRST NEWSLETTER IS APRIL 74,HOW LONG DID IT RUN FOR?,MY LAST NEWSLETTER IS SUMMER 77,HOW MANY NEWSLETTERS WERE PRINTED ?.
IF ANYBODY HAS ANY INFO I WOULD BE VERY GLAD TO HEAR FROM YOU ,DAVY.

i was a member, joined prior to Manifesto release. peter was a really good guy...spoke to him many times.

I'm not much of a collector though, so I don't have any "stuff" from that membership.

Many thanks "Roxysiren".
So, it looks that it was still in circulation in early Feb / March 1979.
Thanks again,Davy

I have all these letters etc on file and will be adding them to the site soon.

They range from 72 until talking about the Avalon album if I remember right.

I joined the Roxy fan club in 1974, the first newsletter I recieved was in the 2 page, A4 format and called "Roxyrama", dated April 1974.
After that the main newsletters came in booklet form. The fan club did send out a lot of pages of info on tours, new merchandise etc.
The last page I received was dated December 8th 1980.
It was giving fan club members the chance to get tickets for the re-scheduled "F+B" tour dates, which were cancelled due to BF's illness that summer, to be played in January '81.
There was also quite a bit of merchandise on offer.
I still have all the stuff, badges, posters, etc which was sent out, also from the short lived Eno club "Enovations".
Pete Leay was a decent guy and always spoke on the phone whenever you called for info.

I was a member. I enjoyed reading the lyrics from the first 3 albums. The badges became part of my school uniform.

You could get tickets for the front two rows for most shows via the fan club. However,as the band got bigger, the fan club got bigger, and it was difficult to get tickets at times. I remember Peter being disillusioned with all the flak he got over tickets for the Flesh + Blood tour and said it in a news letter at the time. I'm not sure what happened between then and Avalon. EG management issued a letter just before Avalon confirming that the club had disbanded and shortly after, so did Roxy !! At its best, the club was brilliant, with advance notification of releases and tours, best tickets, regular newsletters, lyrics and memorabilia not available anywhere else.including the arm patch worn by Bryan on the Siren tour. Great days!

Peter was a nce fella. The last I heard from the club was getting tickets for the F&B tour. Still have my membership badge somewhere. Happy days!
