Interesting news, but just a bit too far to travel to hear EJ!

Despite its billing as his Four Decades World Tour, there appear to be no European dates yet.

Hay Smudge,

Just talked to the Producer and he told me there's a meet'n'greet after the show - so if I go - any messages to him from you?

e

Thanks for the offer Erland; just ask him when he'll be playing in England again!

I've only seen Eddie play live twice: once with Curved Air about three years ago (he'd agreed to play a festival here which was then cancelled and they played a small gig in Kent, just outside London, instead) and then last summer with the partially reformed UK (i.e. John Wetton was the only other original member).

You only got to meet & greet at the UK gig if you'd paid big bucks for your ticket (I hadn't!), but I had a brief chat with him after the Curved Air gig and he seemed a rather quiet & modest guy.

If you DO get to talk to him, I'd advise against overplaying the Roxy connection, as he told me that he felt rather written out of the band's history (I'm not sure that he was ever contacted after the 1976-79 hiatus, was he?). I reassured him, of course, that he remains highly regarded by the VRM cognoscenti! :geek:

Smudge,

Thanks for the intel! Good thing you mentioned it. I'll go easy if I do go. The meet thing isn't that much more expensive than the regular price, so if I do go, I'll definitely want to meet him and tell him his playing on Out of The Blue rocked, especially on The Midnight Special.

I'll be sure to tell him what you asked about coming to England and that VRM hold him in high regard! I'll quote you: " I reassured him, of course, that he remains highly regarded by the VRM cognoscenti!"

Will he remember you? Real name? Place?

No, Erland, he won't remember ME, but he should recall the Curved Air gig in Chislehurst and he MIGHT just remember signing the centre label of his Yesterday Boulevard 45rpm single (he said he'd hoped they'd all been destroyed!) ;)

He has a page in the menu here:

His input to Roxy is well recognised in the second paragraph.

ok Smudge,

I'll bring up your conversation with him and he may remember you. (you tall? short? bald? skinny? young? old? glasses? LOL!)

John, thanks for the link. I'll print it up and give it to him so he knows he's got fans here.

Looks like I'll be going so I'll take some pictures.

gee, Carl Palmer is playing at the same place the night before! Tempting! (meet'n'greet tix too!) :o
