This is just an observation, not a moan. Has anyone noticed how the album covers and stage sets are becoming more and more basic with less and less thought. It's almost as if Bryan doesn't care anymore. The covers for the Roxy live DVD and CD from 2001 were very basic and the Frantic and Dylanesque covers were even worse !

Ian

I don't know if you've been to any of the festival shows this summer. Certainly at Lovebox which I went to, there was a screen at the back of the stage on which film was projected throughout the show. One of the films was a composite of photos of the band over the years, album covers and bits from videos...I noticed some of Limbo and Your Painted Smile in there. Another which backed Dreamhome was of roses and rose stems with thorns, which I thought was quite apt for the song and Roxy.

I think if you look at the Jonathon Ross show on YouTube, you can see the films in the background.

It was certainly better than the eagle curtain that they've used the last few times I saw them.

You obviously missed the 2001 tour, Paddy; pretty much the same photo montage, if not identical, was used successfully then.

Looking back, i suppose the 2001 live cd was not too bad, but Frantic and Dylanesque wre terrible covers. Mamouna as well perhaps !

>>You obviously missed the 2001 tour, Paddy<<

I did...due to serious illness throughout most of 2001 and the early part of 2002. So I can't really comment on the live presentation. I only saw Roxy on the TOTP2 special.

I do have Live at the Apollo DVD, but I haven't watched it in over a year I think. Perhaps I should do so again soon. I don't remember much of what went on on ther screen behind the band in that. But I had the impression at Lovebox that there was a lot more film used.

Does anyone else remember the films used at Lovebox?

The backscreen footage was created specifically for these festivals. Some of the images were the same or similar to the 2001 tour but many new things have been added too.

I thought Mamouna was a great cover - took me years to track down a vinyl version, for the artwork.
The quintessential Bryan Ferry album. Nothing has quite matched it since.

Oops, this is the Roxy Music bit of the forum - transfer that last thought to the Ferry part.
