It's all down to BF in the end. If he chooses to reform then it will happen. I doubt it will.
However, I think he is deluded in thinking that putting out the Dylan thing, Olympia & the latest woeful effort will suffice. No doubt for some folk it will and I am happy for them.
Can I be a RM fan and not a BF fan? I don't know but I've not been to a BF concert since Frantic, but I have been to many RM concerts since.
This is only my opinion and I don't wish to offend anyone

Given that JO'B has told us in the past how the basic work (and quite a lot of it) had been done on the deluxe editions of the first album (and maybe FYP too?) it is sad that if not the artist then their management can't bang some record company heads together and get these released. So they won't sell in vast quantities, but they represent income for minimum further effort for whoever puts them out and it improves the legacy of a beloved band.

I enjoy BF's solo work but probably not as much if I'm honest as when he's together with Messrs Mackay, Manzanera and Thompson. I think you can be a fan of an artist without liking everything they do without criticism. I'm a big Springsteen fan and prefer him with the E Street Band so his 2006 Seeger Sessions album wasn't something I would automatically have wanted him to do, but the shows he did supporting that record were some of the most enjoyable of his I've ever attended. I suspect Gary that you'd have really enjoyed the recent shows - I only went to the RAH one but it was inspired. Go and enjoy it for what it is, don't avoid it because it's not what you think it ought to be.

Hi
Sorry but I wouldn't have! I didn't go to these shows for several reasons. One being that I can't stand Jazz or the BF version of it. Two, I don't really care for much of the BF solo stuff though there are a few exceptions. I will try again with the next new offering but I am not feeling very positive about it after the last three.

Interesting question. Bryan has said that on reflection he wished that he'd made Boys & Girls as a Roxy album. I personally think that Roxy should have got back together after Boys & Girls. I think Bryan and Andy met up quite a bit around 1990, if I remember correctly, and their were rumours of a possible reunion then. Personally it should have happened 20 years ago at least. The longer it went on after that I couldn't see anything creative coming out of a reunion, apart from live performances of the old stuff, which on there own I felt were not reason enough for them to reform. What do others think?

I believe Boys and Girls, Bète Noir, Mamouna, parts of Frantic-Hiroshima, San Simeon and I Thought and most of Olympia are Roxy Albums without the personnel. And as we all know Phil, Andy and Eno guested on three of these albums. It sounds to me as though the albums followed a similar stylistic sound and feel from Avalon on. In fact I remember the music press calling Boys and Girls, 'Avalon part 2' and Bète Noir, 'Son of Boys and Girls.' I love the sophisticated sound, of these albums, the pinnacle of that sound for me being Windswept, but I love early Roxy too. I may be a million mile off the mark, but in my very humble opinion and going by the amount of writing credits (nevertheless important) from Andy and Phil in the past, had they all stayed together, I don't think the albums above would have been so radically different. Nevertheless like everyone here, I agree it would have been great had they all got their sh** together a few years ago.

Someone has done the internet equivalent of putting a shilling in the meter as the site, such as it is, is back up.

Whilst I agree in part - I think the important thing about Roxy is the contributions of Andy and Phil and Paul to be honest - whilst BF is obviously the leader, AM, PM and PT all have their own sounds and way of playing - Session muso's they are not - they are not as slick as that and their backgrounds, avant garde, classical, latin are all to the fore in their contributions.

If B&G had include Phil and Andy it would have sounded different - just because of the way they play -
