The March issue of Classic Rock features VP in what appears to be a series entitled The Stories Behind The Songs. The one page article appears on page 30, with a colour photo of the band on the facing page (sorry, but no scanning facilities or, for that matter, skills!). The article refers to VP as "a hit single that didn't so much ignore the rules as simply get them arse-backwards: no chorus, a faded-in intro and a sudden ending"! Phil M confirms that this wasn't a deliberate ploy: "We just hadn't a clue how to make a single. We'd never done one before."! ![]() |

Mes Amis, What a great article! I remember hearing it for the first time. It was and remains simply amazing - pure art rock. Interesting how our hero avoided the dodgy barnet fair stage n'est ce pas? Regards, Windswept. Ps. Didn't realise Phil co-wrote The Floyd's 'One Slip'. Love that song - great lyrics! |

Wonderful. I love that picture too. It gets better the older I get. They all look pretty alien, but there's something about Bryan, Andy and Eno that looks sooooo good. |

Nice story. Nice Thread. Doesn't VP represent the only Roxy studio recording with Rik Kenton? Hmmm. Life is quirky... |
