I was courting a lass who subscribed to the "Jackie" magazine and I used to avidly read it every Friday - partly 'cos I was intrigued by the adolescent girls' letters/problem page - invariably always complaining about their parents not understanding them or their boyfriends, but also 'cos Bryan was a regular poster/pin-up; they used a still from the TOTP All I Want is You performance and I nicked it to cover one of my school folders. BF was leering, in his BF way, with thumbs almost ripping off the Levi's pockets. I remember the following week Jackie readers wrote that were worried about the new dirty "rock" look and hoped BF returned to his nice smart stylish ways pronto..... And this memory has brought up another absurd Jackie one....an article and photo of an ancient Welsh milkman sporting Roxy Music badges as he'd fallen in love with the band after helping them perform Psalm as part of the Welsh choir!!!!! I wonder if I was the problem boyfriend?? |
