Post subject:  Spex Interview with Bryan Ferry

Just read a Bryan Ferry interview with German "Spex" magazine, published in April 2014.

http://www.spex.de/2014/04/30/vorspiel- ... yan-ferry/

For Non German speakers: Bryan had to comment songs that had to do more or less with his career. "Re-Make/Re-Model" had been heavily influenced by The Velvet Underground. He had always loved the voice of Lou Reed ("What Goes On").

Interesting: BF didn't recognize songs from "Here Come The Warm Jets" by Brian Eno. Says they never had been enemies. In the meantime he would understand what had led Eno to leave Roxy - no songwriting possible for him. BF characterizes this as a mistake from him. If he, BF, listens to late Roxy Music songs, he misses the influence of his band mate Brian Eno! "Since then we have worked together here and there but not enough ..."

Furthermore he tells us that he admired early David Bowie and his guitarist Mick Ronson (an admiration that had existed vice versa).

Though he often covered his songs, he never met Bob Dylan. And: Ferry is a fan of Ray Davies and the Kinks ("very good song writer"). In his opinion they had been the real "Dandies" :-)

In fact, Ferry admits, he only listened to artists which are already dead ... his interest in young popular music was rather limited ...

Last but not least: After his Leipzig concert with the Gewandhaus Orchestra he will receive the award "A Life In Voice".

I hope I could help all Roxologists who have problems with their German :-)

Greetings, - pianoman -

One more: Bryan Ferry must have been interviewed by Spex in 2010 - 2011, because he announces his TBFO tour ...
