Thank you, Smudge and Roxy! I had always wondered about the meaning of the "Tara" at the end of FYP.

But the tune Tara on the Avalon album refers to the Druidic goddess? Or is it also a goodbye? After all it's the last song on the album... (Sorry for the off-topic, but since we're at it...)

I tend to think that in this case the "Tara" has an Irish connection.

Is there a connection between this place and the Avalon myth?

I suspect not; I'm no historian, but I think Avalon in the legend of King Arthur & his knights of the round table is believed (at least according to folklore) to be around in Glastonbury* in Somerset (south-west England).

That said, some believe it was even further west, near Tintagel in Cornwall; I hadn't heard of it being as far west as Ireland, though... ;)

(*This is why the locals grumbled a bit when BF didn't sing Avalon when he played at the Glastonbury Abbey Extravaganza in 2013; all they got was the BFO's jazz instrumental version.)

Thank you, Smudge! Again, sorry for spoiling this thread with off-topic questions.

I'd love to see AM, PM and TGPT back, too.

I never appreciated this until you've mentioned it. But, I can now see the missed opportunity.

Bryan made reference to the instrumental Tara as being to do with Gone with The Wind and that the house they stayed in Bahamas when recording Avalon reminded him of the GWTW house.

Wow, thanks John. I never would have gotten that reference. I don't know much about the Avalon myth but in the context of the Avalon album I always assumed it would have to do something with the druidic goddess. So it is the house from GWTW instead:

...honestly I'm slightly disappointed... I would have preferred some mystical reference from the Avalon saga ;)
