Indeed, and just look at that set list! such a shame when you think 'Viva' only hints at what a far better live album it could have been.
As far as we know live recordings from this period started with 'Stranded' through to 'Siren' so we know at least three of the albums could include live material.
Perhaps we just need to wait and see, that's all we can do

If BF wanted something to happen with the Roxy catalog of recordings, it would happen. Pronto.

He has plenty of time to rehearse and play Roxy songs with the Roxy Lite Band (more than 80% of his recent concerts are comprised of Roxy tunes). He could easily find time for Real Roxy stuff if he wanted to...

I just listened to the Viva! version of "If there is something" on youtube and one of the comments there mentions that Eddie Jobson's violin solo has been edited for the Viva! album. Which is true, in the unedited version on the bootleg CD it's actually more than 30 seconds longer than on Viva!. Funny, I've never noticed that before

Sadly, this thread serves as a reminder of how little has been done for Roxy Music fans over the past 3-4 years.

Whatever happened to the supposed deluxe editions of the Roxy albums??? And what about all the live recordings that could be made available in legitimate (non-bootleg) editions???

BF loves to go on the road with his "Roxy Lite" band and play a bunch of Roxy tunes. But meanwhile REAL Roxy recordings languish in limbo, Sigh.

I sometimes wonder what went on or was said around the 2011 tour. They all seemed to know it was the end of RM.

I was always led to believe at the time that Viva! was originally conceived as a double album but got gradually whittled down to the rather unconvincing and massively overdubbed offering we ended up with!

Wonder who gets the blame for that then?

Relations between Bryan & Andy in particular seemed pretty icy at this time. Viva was compiled round about the time Roxy took their hiatus. Andy in an interview complained about none of his co-writes being included. Bryan in another interview countered when questioned about Andy's comments that, and I paraphrase, 'Viva was originally meant to be a double album. We listened to the recordings from the previous tours & the band voted for their favourite tracks and these were the ones included. It was all done democratically and if it had been a double album 'Three & Nine' would have been on there'.

Renowned Roxologists,
Although Windswept would love to see more Roxy live LPs (IWNSHO the '03 Double Album compilation from the '01 tour was excellent) he really has to question that as a priority given that the absolute triumph that was AEWBF has not enjoyed any form of official release.
W2 thinks he's seen every Roxy/Ferry tour over the years and can only put ATGB ahead of AEWBF and ROXY '01 in remotely the same league.
W2 realises that broadcasting such thoughts on this station may be considered absolute heresy but time waits for no man and the AEWBF arrangements may never see the light of day.
Surely even the most ardent feather boa lover recognises the superiority of this performance?
Il est necacarey d'avoir le meilleur n'est-ce pas?
Salutations,
W2
Ps. DCJ W2 completely agrees with your 'Lite' assessment regarding the US 'Can't Let Go' line up, he thinks our hero deserves credit for morphing it into 'Roxy Heavy' for last year's UK leg. Just goes to show the time and skill it takes to put a truly great band together.

We will be playing this set at the Washington Arts Centre this October: very excited about this as it is the first time we have been in a position to recreate a complete show. We normally play "chunks" of shows e.g. Amazona, Chance Meeting, Virginia Plain (from the Stranded Tour) Bogus Man, Trash, Both Ends Burning (from the Flesh and Blood tour).
