If you could choose 10 artists to cover Roxy/Ferry originals who would they be and what songs??

I would go for

Kate Bush 'Strictly Confidential'
BB King 'This Is Tomorrow'
David Bowie 'Ladytron'
The Blue Nile 'Psalm'
George Ezra 'A Really Good Time'
Lianne la Haves 'Another Time Another Place'
Catatonia 'The Only Face'
New Order 'The Main Thing'
Sade 'Just Like You'
Kings Of Leon 'Whirlwind'

J.O'B.

Nice idea for a thread. Unfortunately I'm lacking the phantasy to come up with some ideas of my own. But I do love Grace Jones' cover of Love Is The Drug:

I can't think of 10 artists for individual songs. But I would love to hear either Scott Walker or Todd Rundgren cover the For Your Pleasure album.

Cheers.

How likely is it that something like this will one day come to fruition? Wasn't BF (supposed to be) producing an album of Roxy covers at Studio One some time ago?

Scissor Sisters - Angel Eyes
Scott Walker - Beauty Queen
The Stranglers - Editions of You
Can - The Bogus Man
Kate Bush - Just Like You

Trying to think of some others.

I seem to recall reading somewhere that the sheet music to 'Ladytron' was seen lying around at Bowie's recording sessions for 'Pinups', but he obviously decided against recording it.

Only 10! There's so many different combinations and I'm sure we would keep thinking of artists all the time that we'd like to cover Roxy.

As my rough draft:

Bruce Springsteen - Can't Let Go
Leonard Cohen - Boys and Girls
Kate Bush - 2 H.B.
David Bowie - In Every Dream Home a Heartache
Giorgio Moroder - Same Old Scene
Pet Shop Boys - Still Falls The Rain
Rod Stewart - The Only Face
Kylie Minogue - Dance Away
Sam Smith - More Than This
Tony Bennett - I Thought

Elegantly Ageing Hipsters,

Some excellent recommendations from dedicated members of the fraternity.

The album should be titled 'ROXOLOGY' and here are W2's recommendations:

1. Serenade - Brett Anderson
2. In Every Dream Home A Heartache - Cat Power
3. Mother Of Pearl - Nick Cave
4. Running Wild - Lana Del Ray
5. A Song For Europe - Leonard Cohen
6. More Than This - Kristina Train
7. 2HB - Scott Walker
8. Casanova - Paolo Nutini
9. The Only Face - Ray LaMontagne
10.Another Time Another Place - David Bowie

Musical Director: Colin Good
Producer: Bryan Ferry

As a footnote, Zappa's idea of having Scott Walker interpret an entire Roxy album is genius but unfortunately he picked the wrong LP.
It should be 'Stranded' not 'FYP'!

Salutations,
W2
