Hipsters,
One of the many things I love about 'Roxy's Repository' is the obvious excitement and enthusiasm that the journalists had for music.
What an age of phenomenal creativity this was - I wouldn't have missed it for the world. Stuff Simon Cowell with his waxed chest, dodgy barnet and Black toilet paper!
salutations,
Windswept.

“Avonmore is a masterclass in sleek effortless control … His tortures here are entirely sensual affairs”
4* The Independent, Album of the Week

“A winning formula … his romantic disconnection and crepuscular charm is undimmed”
4* The Guardian

“Ferry at his decadent best”
The Times

"Stuff Simon Cowell with his waxed chest, dodgy barnet and Black toilet paper!"
5* Monsieur Windswept:VivaRoxyMusic Forum

Surely a quote to be used in future promotion of any Roxy/Ferry albums!!

Thank you for the kind quotes about the articles I have posted so far. I am trying my best to sort through them and post in chronological order. I have a lot scanned and sorted already but then I come across something that is still in a box so there maybe something pop up in a more random order.

Great stuff, Roxy, thanks for sharing. I am amused by the Crimson comparisons, especially about "If There Is Something". I have been a Crimhead for more than 40 years and despite the connections between the bands both through management and the appearances of certain members of each band in the other's solo projects, I have never heard musical similarities. I got into Roxy through the KC connections, but saw Roxy as vastly different, sharing with Crimson perhaps only a passing reference to the 20th Century Avant Garde. But to say ITIS has "too much Crimson-quoting" is A perspective I have never considered. Thanks for giving me something to ponder! :ugeek:

PS, sometimes trying to scan one of these old articles is a bit of a problem in an A4 scanner! When it just fits and no more but needs a tiny adjustment to get the last line in. :x The photograph in the first one is not missing anything vital, it stops just after the microphone stand. :)

My apologies for the unscheduled break in adding articles to this thread. Spare time has been pretty scarce since the Avonmore Tour shows and other family events so I hope to get back on track.
