A very good read, thanks for posting this. The intellectual Eno always has something interesting to say.

"He was walking in the sun . . . and miscalculated." He sure can turn a sentence.

Wondering if anyone has had a chance to hear "The Ship" album yet. Heaven carved out of porcelain, to this humble ear.

I think the Eno fan- based website, More Dark than Shark, is quite right to try to point out the hits and the misses from his enormous solo and collaborative body of work.

I will give The Ship a go when I get around to it - of the recent stuff I liked Another Day on Earth ( actually released 2005) , Everything that Happens will Happen today with David Byrne ( really 2008 !! ), both albums with Karl Hyde, (2014) and Drums Between the Bells with Rick Holland (2011)
The Leo Abrahams + John Hopkins album, Small Craft on a Milk Sea (2010) almost gets it right. It needs a few more listens.
However, Lux (2012) , despite promising much and some good reviews can really only be listened to an art gallery; it's quite ambient , but that's the point, I guess.

Delving back into the catalogue, I was hoping for a good listen with The Drop ( 1997). Didn't work for me.
