I've just looked at the ticket sales for Newcastle and London (the two I'm going to) and they do look awfully slow. You can still buy in block B in Newcastle and pretty near the front in London. Are we going to face the deadening prospect of thousands of empty seats (nothing worse in my view) or do we think they'll do something to increase interest?

well one thing they could do is change the set list significantly. suppose there may be two target audiences: casuals who'd like to hear hits, and others who are into the fuller catalogue. after the several tour runs, i suspect that the casuals are turning away...how many times would they want to go? and as one of the "others" (ie harder core fans) i have diminishing interest in seeing exactly the same songs and arrangements yet again. btw, i guess that in order to sell out larger venues, you've got to get the casuals to turn out, because there just aren't enough of us "others" around. so, maybe i just contradicted myself, and there's no solution beyond a new album (which isn't gonna happen any time this century)

Well at the prices they are charging I'm not surprised the tickets aren't selling.
I've been a loyal fan for years and have always gone to see Roxy / Ferry, but even though they are playing the O2 on my birthday next year I'm not going. Add on travelling costs and I'm looking at over £100 each ticket. With money tight and a family to support I can't justify spending that sort of money on 90 minutes of songs, especially when the band will probably trot out broadly the same set that I've seen numerous times since 2001.
It's a shame, and I wish I could go, but if a band like Roxy Music wants to pull a decent crowd these days they'd be better off playing smaller, more affordable venues. With nothing to promote, very little in the way of publicity, and extremely high ticket prices there's bound to be lots of empty seats.

I think Chris Spedding made the point about the difference between Roxy tours (arenas) and Ferry solo tours (small theatres) I wonder if that gap has now got smaller? I think that many people might or could be in the same position as I'm now in where due to substantially reduced finances I can't afford to go, no date at Sheffield this time which is the nearest venue to me and the next nearest would mean taking time off work (And if last winter is anything to go by February was a bad month weather wise).Cost does come into it but the biggest factor now would be if the setlist changes radically, and if the last Ferry tour is anything to go by, shorter shows than previously.

That suprises me (for London) as I tried to get two tickets for London in August and the only places left were in the back???? That's why I bought for Birmingham in the end, although it's easier for me to go to London.

Gauging over-all ticket sales by what's available on-line at any given moment can be tricky because the promoter doesn't necessarily make all the tix available at the same time. Many are "held back" (for a variety of reasons) and eventually released - sometimes only a few days before the show.

I recall for the 2005 Radio City Music Hall gig in NYCity that the expensive seats on the floor were all "sold out" for quite a while before the concert but then a couple of days before showtime they suddenly became available again on-line. This is not uncommon.

So who knows how ticket sales are really going for the 2011 mini-tour? Only the promoter and the Roxy elite know for sure and most likely they'll keep mum until they've got a solid sold-out tour.

The Manchester Apollo.

Newcastle City Hall.

Charge £30 a Ticket. Sell out all the shows.

A setlist that starts with The Bob, ends with Do The Strand and lasts 90 minutes.

Lets all get dressed up and have the time of our lives.

We all get to see Roxy go out doing what they do best, being the bravest, most glamourous and strangest band we have ever seen!

And then we ask no more of Roxy.
It would be enough.

Now that, Firefighter, is a brilliant idea.
Sod the huge arenas - get back to the theatres.

Looks to me like most venues are almost sold out with front row prices between £145 to £175!

Well if its any help, I have monitored the show that I am going to (Nottingham) and it looks like it is vitually sold out now. It has just taken a bit of time which is not surprising really as it can take a while for people to know about the tours. Let's not be so negative, I am just very happy to see them again and can't wait!
