Dear All, I think Roxy Music Live is one of the band’s finest works, and I’m troubled to see it apparently “out of print”. I particularly like Colin Good’s beautiful extended intro to A Song For Europe. This is presumably his original composition (although perhaps inspired by chords in the original song?). Do we think he just signed away any rights in that work as part of his contract to appear on the tour, which presumably involved releases covering any live album? It seems a shame that he doesn’t get much credit for it. |

Colin's a jazz musician, so probably improvised subtly different introductions or solos from time to time; it's what they do, but if he asked for a co-composer credit each time, I'm sure he'd never have got the gig! ![]() Whether EJ should have got a credit for the original version might be an interesting question. Only the band knows to what extent the individual instrument parts were created by their stated composers... ![]() |

My copy of this does not play properly - it sticks at about 30 minutes in - annoying . I cannot see anything wrong with the disc. (CD). |
