I've seen on jpc that there is a book to be published on Roxy Music's album Avalon. Written by Simon A. Morrison from Princeton University/USA. It comes in May 2021 and is written in English.

Here is the link to German online retailer jpc but you might find it cheaper elsewhere:

I'm not sure but maybe I'll buy it.

Here's the Bloomsbury link to the book...

Morrison is a prominent academic music historian which may help make this a book worth reading; or the tome may prove insufferable if filled with academic pretension and self impressed bloviating.

If nothing else it will help keep Roxy/BF in the realm of Bands/Singers that need to be remembered as the 21st century rolls along and the 1970s and 80s fade into a world inhabited by your grandparents - but certainly not by you.

I may well buy this book if only to see how much attention is given to PM and AM in regard to the recording and crafting of Avalon.

The Details blurb on Amazon suggests that what could potentially be very interesting may turn out to be an excessively erudite book from the Paul Morley/Michael Bracewell school of writing. Which may not be to my tastes, I fear. We shall see, but at least it keeps the band name remembered as DCJ says.

Reading between the lines sounds like the author doesn't get / like it. I've always thought it beguiling.

These 33 1/3 are usually very good - I have 20 in my collection
