Just discovered that Roxy are to feature in the Mirror every day this week (starting today) as a precursor to the group's 40th anniversary. As well as interviews with the band members, there will be chances to win tickets for the Jan/Feb 2011 gigs and a grand prize which includes the back catalogue on CD and signed piece of Olympia artwork. At least some of the details should be at www.mirror.co.uk or just search "Roxy Music Daily Mirror". |

A couple of years ago I would have interpreted this news about the Mirror as evidence of a PR build-up for a new Roxy album. But now I think "wow, yet another campaign to drum up publicity for selling the back catalog of Roxy product along with tickets to some concerts where a well worn set list will be trotted out for the masses..." Sigh. Sadly, its hard not to be cynical about the "future" of Roxy! It's interesting that one part of the "Grand Prize" involves artwork from Olympia, thus there is some leaking over of BF's solo career into the "40th Anniversary Celebration." |
