IF THERE IS SOMETHING
Because it was beautifully done (possibly the best rendition I've seen over the years) and wasn't sure Ferry's voice or The Emperor's fingers would hold out on the parts they are responsible for?
They did and it moved me like no other song that night...real lump in the throat stuff.

Ladytron because Andy played a blinder on the oboe ( and indeed the whole concert ) . I thought he might have struggled with his fingers etc but no and as for Phil's guitar solo at the end . WOW !!

It was a cor anglais, a pitch lower than an oboe, because of Ferry's voice, followed by a Roland (?) electronic wind instrument for the solo...but that's just me being a pedant!
But yes, a fantastic rendition with Manzo starring.
Funny that the earlier songs where so strongly performed?

Chers amis!
Me: To turn you on Wife: Oh Yeah! Son: While my heart is still beating
Very good version of The Main Thing, my least favourite song from Avalon. O2 is better for tennis than for concerts, but still a great evening. Now let's hope that Bryan will tour next year with his own band. Much prefer Chris Spedding to Manzanera who can't play anything but loud and noisy. And bring back Marina Moore on violin please!

Cher Oberon, W2 est tout a fait d’accord avec ton fils. ‘WMHISB’ was the song of the evening. Clearly he has consummate good taste. That said, ‘TTYO’ and ‘ITIS’ gave it a run for its money. Windswept also seconds your request for a new Ferry fandango. He dreams of a ‘Love Letters ‘ tour - mais plus jamais a l’O2. Salutations, Windswept

Yer showing exquisite good taste, and your wife too. Not bad from your son either, as I could hear from the youtube clips, WYHSB has got some uptempo and a more distinct playing. The reason some people choose If There Is Something or Ladytron seems that that`s a rare chance to hear Andy in action at some length. Besides, it sounds as they are easier for Bryan to sing, but don`t let that fool you!

I sadly could not afford the seats on the ground floor so was seated high up in the Upper Tier so I could not see exactly what Andy was playing, so I just assumed it was an oboe.
I agree that the violin was missed for the ensemble particularly in the epic solo in " Out of the Blue ". I thought that Bryan's voice faded in the middle of the set , " More than This " being a prime example. I am sorry Oberon but I really enjoyed Phil's " noisy and loud " guitar ! Each to their own !
