As part of the 50th anniversary of the debut album, a little anecdote from the founding days of Roxy Music has now also become known. The singer Bryan Ferry previously lost his job as an art teacher because he allegedly always sang in class. He went to an audition for the band King Crimson. King Crimson's Robert Fripp immediately recognized that Bryan Ferry wasn't right for King Crimson, but at the same time was totally smitten with him. Robert Fripp advised Bryan Ferry to form his own band. Which he then did with Andy Mackay and Brian Eno. In this case, Robert Fripp promised to support Bryan Ferry's band with his record company. After all, the founders of E.G. Records, David Enthoven and John Gaydon, previously manager of King Crimson. Roxy Music actually signed a deal with E.G. records.
