Good to see Roxy Music in the news on a regular basis, good or bad.

Two things stopped me reading past the first paragraph:

1. It's re-formed, not reformed. The first means to form something again, like a band reunion. The second means to change one's ways. Bad journalism.

2. The unnecessary mention of Eno. He's been gone for 38 years. He's not coming back. And he wasn't that important to begin with. Lazy journalism.

I agree with penaut concerning the importance of Eno. I think it was just a "look", nothing else. I would like to hear the 2 first albums WITHOUT the instruments played by Eno, I am sure the songs would be more "timeless", like they are in the 3rd album.

Beyond the cheekbones, Eno brought a sense of improvisation to the band's early performances, but his contributions soon became formulaic. Perhaps Ferry held him back. Eno's best work certainly came after he left Roxy Music (I'm a big fan of the '70s solo albums, his work with Fripp, Bowie, Talking Heads, etc.).

I agree with Eno that Stranded is Roxy's finest album. Country Life and Siren are no slouches, either. Roxy didn't miss a beat when Eno left, and Jobson deserves more credit than he receives, dismissed, as he often is, as mere Eno-lite.

The truth is, the songs and the vision were all Ferry.

Journalists: recognise!

I think that's a pretty positive interview with Andy (nice to see him as spokesperson for a change...) and, if it's designed to preview what Aussie & NZ audiences can expect, then it does its job well enough: it states broadly from which albums the setlist will be drawn and mentions Eno only in passing (presumably just in case fans Down Under were hoping to see the full original line-up).

Maybe we should forgive the Aussies for occasional poor use of the language; after all, they haven't had it for as long as we Brits have!
