Post subject:  This morning's thought

Just working here (doing another translation) and listening to the ATGB "Live In Paris" show in the background. And thinking that I'm ever so lucky to be in love with this particular artist's music, so versatile and so amazing. I know that years later, when I'm in a nursing home, I won't regret having been a fan of Bryan Ferry/Roxy Music, while others will have been fans of, say, Metallica or Madonna. (which I also like a lot, but BF/RM is just something else altogether).
OK, "Out Of The Blue" just started and brought a huge smile on my face. :D

I feel that I Thought could have been a great inclusion on the new Roxy album, when it eventually see the light of day (2015? hehe).

It's the best thing that Bryan has penned in the last ten years, and it's a Eno co-write.

An Andy sax break would have enhanced it and the Duane Eddy-like guitar, supplied by Mr. Spedding, sounds very Manzo-like. Eno's sequencer also harks back to early Roxy.

My criticism is that the production lacks punch, and it could have utilised TGPT's drumming to beef it up. Too bad Bryan didn't put this one aside because it was ready made for Roxy...

I am lucky to have Frantic on vinyl. I think the whole of side 2 makes a very nice suite. It starts with "Ja Nun Hons Pris". Side 1 is weaker, I think.

If you listen to the Eno & John Cale album "Wrong way Up" you'll hear that it was more or less ready made for that! It sounds very like the track "The River", which has Eno singing in a Ferryesque manner and, imo, is far superior. I can't really see what all the fuss is about with "I Thought" but it seems to be a popular tune.
