Between June 1972 and November 1974, Roxy released four albums.
A prodigious feat.

This contrasts starkly with modern bands, who produce a record, on average, every two years.

Would Roxy have been able to enjoy a more sustained career arc if this rapid depletion of their creative reserve had been better managed by setting minimum intervals between records being released?
Would the need for a hiatus have been avoided?

Or would a far greater degree of control over their output by management intent on promoting a global Roxy brand have had a detrimental effect and stifled the flow?

The light that burns twice as bright burns twice as fast.

Having read about how Bryan used to drive off to some windswept Derbyshire cottage and lock himself away to write songs, I feel that he would have been better served to have continued to work under that kind of pressure. Just look at the results on the early albums compared to........ Manifesto!!

Roxy's publicist, Simon Puxley helped Bryan with lyrics on early Roxy efforts. Country Life was an album where Bryan suffered writers block, and Mr. Puxley's writing skills helped the creative process. Unfortunately, SP is no longer with us. Perhaps the new album would be completed if Bry's long time friend was still around?

Although, rumours on here suggest that another band member is holding the last piece of the jigsaw...
