I have been asked by Bryan's management and record company to try and find the location of the original painting 'Virginia Plain' by Bryan Ferry in 1964. The hope is that it could be used in some way as part of a deluxe edition box set of the first Roxy Music album to be released this year as part of the 40th Anniversary celebrations

The painting was sold on EBAY on 12th January 2005. Maybe some of you know the buyer or hopefully the buyer uses this site and may get this message.

Please contact me at john@vivaroxymusic.com if you have any details of the current home of this painting.

J.O'B.

This must mean that the contents of the Deluxe Edition of the first album has not been finalised ! Get yer votes in fast before it's too late. The full 1971 demo MUST be released !! At the expense of remixes,B-sides and all other crap ! !

It could of course mean that it's just the packaging and artwork they're still undecided over. We all know how much attention to detail Bryan places on the visual side of things. I'm sure John will know but is sworn to secrecy upon pain of death 8-) .

Frantic ? Dylanesque ? I reckon I could have come up with better ! Although, I have to admit,Olympia was pretty good.

Perhaps he applies different standards to the sleeves of his solo albums than Roxy ones? The "In Your Mind" cover was pretty ropey, "Bride Stripped Bare" and "Taxi" can't have taken that long to put together. The"Mamouna" cover was ok but then someone else had already done the painting for him  "Boys and Girls" was quite stylish in a "9 1/2 weeks" sort of way.

Maybe after so many years working on some of these albums he was so desperate to finally get them released that the sleeves became of lesser importance, unlike in the early 70s. By 2002 Simon Puxley was no longer around to add his thoughts either.

Having said all that, I personally couldn't care too much about the cover. I want to hear something that's gonna blow me away ! The...err...1971 demos MUST be released in full !!
