The worst ever Roxy line up were Martin Fry and that crowd from A.B.C. We don't get a "worst" Roxy Music. Maybe a "not as good as", but never a "worst".

Totally agree that TGPT is essential to the Roxy sound.

Laughed at the thought of ABC being the worst ever Roxy line-up; the singer with Icehouse was a more slavish BF imitator, but at least they employed a young Guy Pratt on bass...

Hard to debate that one. As a long time King Crimson fan, especially from the 73'-74' period, I admire John Wetton's playing. I think he anchored the sound of Roxy in a way that no one else ever has.

My favourite RM line up, in terms of appearance...FYP.
In terms of musicianship and performance...Country Life.
Worst...Avalon, sorry but Fonzi and co. shouldn't be in Roxy.

Why couldn't BF find good looking backing singers?
The Sirens were good looking but the rest have been grotesque.

Manifesto was a good live touring band, and apart from Phil's gremlins on a lot of the shows, it was a solid band, also it was the last tour using just a 6 piece ensemble before being augmented by a lot of unecessary hangers-on.....imo.

Some of the Roxy/Ferry originals worked really well with thta band; Chance Meeting, Sunset & The Only Face being the stand outs. I would have loved to have heard the ATGB doing some of the Roxy/Ferry stuff in a 30's style now that would have been interesting.

I differ regarding the drummer & guitarist - for me, they were Jazz purists and had the delicate touch required.
Were I couldn't agree more is when you say how fabulous it would be to hear more Roxy/BF stuff in the '30s style. Now that would be a project and a great reason to get this best ever Roxy band back together.

Contentious one now: Flesh & Avalon - This was where Bryan had hijacked RM and for me wasn't RM.

Hi. I agree completely about the A.T.G.B. tour. The band were awesome. Dare I say it, the drummer was great, but not as great, as the great one. I saw the gig firstly at the S.E.C.C. in Glasgow, and then by chance, was in Paris when the gig appeared and got to see it at the Rex.

It re-ignited my love for Roxy, and by all accounts, did the same for our esteemed leader. I can count 4 of the band from that tour that we were graced with, on the 2001 tour.

Fonzie? He just wasn't, as Phil would say, part of the Roxy soup.

What's French for cul-de sac? x
