Hi. Firstly, hope eveyone and all are well. If we had, as Roxy fans, be given the opportunity to name the best Roxy Music band on stage, who would we put in there? There are so many. Having seen them all, bar eno, with Roxy, I would go Tibbs, Lucy, Edwin Jobson, Sped, and anyone that plays a harp. (I love her) Any thoughts? A fun thing. Gxxx |

I've always considered FYP to be the group's masterwork, so that line-up plus a regular bassist (always thought John Gustafson added more than most to the sound) would take some beating for me. Even though there was some fantastic stuff in the post-Eno era (especially on Stranded & Country Life), I think Andy (and possibly Phil too) miss the more experimental atmosphere of the early days. So do I. |

I favor the Roxy line-up I saw in early '75 with BF, PM, AM, EJ, TGPT and John Wetton on bass. Wetton's bass on Out of the Blue was the best. Check out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b9QpI3wVvek |

Live: Country Life tour with Wetton. Also, the 2000 tour, with Spedding and Lucy was pretty great (despite Colin Good, who at that stage was kept in his box quite well, with all the roxy sounds/twists remaining intact, without MOR gloop) Studio: FYP (inc TGPT, Eno, Chris Thomas) Overall best ever line up happened again a few years ago: Ferry, MacKay, TGPT, Eno and Thomas....only nothing ever materialised from those last Roxy Music sessions. But for me, even the 30 or so seconds of fragments i did hear, suggest all the old magic was there musically. Shame the lyrics and economic politics couldn't work. |

Harpist... Julia Thornton, who else? Chris Spedding and Ollie Thompson on guitars. PT on drums, Gustafson on bass and Andy playing the saxophone - though visually I surely would have prefered Jorja! All in all, I was very pleased with BF;s solo concerts last year, can`t ask for more. Please play "Reason or Rhyme" for the coming summer festivals! |

Ageing Hipsters, I know that this is going to be taken as absolute sacrilege and I will have to take all the brickbats that follow but the best Roxy line up ever is actually the ATGB tour band! This is the best group of musicians Ferry has ever played with - phenomenal brass section, sumptuous strings, and amazing rhythm players. When they gave their interpretation of the Roxy catalogue, the hairs just stood up on the back of my neck. No disrespect to Andy, Phil or TGPT but facts are facts, this band swung like no other and my God, they were achingly cool! Regards, Windswept |

Windswept: I am glad you liked the ATGB tour band, but clearly you need to reconfigure your med doses. Something is not right. Please do not operate heavy machinery. Please seek help soon. |
