Graham's funeral took place in London yesterday. The music played at the service was:
Just For You by Ornette Coleman, Roxy's Re-make/Re-model and a version of God Bless The Child by Eric Dolphy.

The service was a celebration of his life with his friends and family making their own personal eulogy and he was also given a round of applause for his work with Roxy Music.

He will rest in peace now.

Interesting choice of music; had no idea that Graham was into the avant garde end of the jazz spectrum (hope the "congregation" was too!).

Excellent choice to mark his Roxy days; were any band members present or was the service for family and/or friends only?

It's a strange life, isn't it? Two talented young men. One ends up a rich global superstar and the other quite the opposite. I wonder how often they spoke in recent years.

Thanks very much for posting that article. Fascinating reading - what a bizarre and scary life Graham had.

Doesn't sound to me that GS and BF ever got together in recent years. If they did it was certainly after the interview underlying this article was done. Did Bracewell ever interview GS? Seems like he should have but it seems he never did.

He liked Dance Away! The heart wants what the heart wants I suppose, and all the logical analysis in the world won't change that...

All in all it's amazing GS lived as long as he did. RIP

This article stuck with me last night and it still lingers this morning. What a contrast between GS and BF. But they were THE TWO GUYS at the very genesis of Roxy and everybody else came later. By '74 BF is on the telly singing a duet of "It's My Party" with Lulu and GS is Lord knows where on a spiritual journey and grappling with some serious monkeys. Whew.

I discovered Roxy in 1974 and GS was always just a picture on the import album sleeve. There was a bit of mystery surrounding his departure, but compared to the complexity/presence of the rest of Roxy he didn't seem very interesting. Turns out not to be the case, but in terms of music-making it seems he didn't do anything after the first RM album. So as a music fan, there's not much to hang on to in terms of his post-Roxy life.

Upon reflection, GS bears comparison to post-Floyd Syd Barrett. Not identical, but there's more than a little congruency in their life experiences...
