Yet more evidence of why VRM is THE website for all things Roxy.

Thanks J O'B for an eloquent memorial for Graham Simpson.

As I understand it, Graham was the only bass player to be a full member of Roxy. Could it be that Bryan found it hard to give up emotionally on Graham (even though he must have realised fairly early on that he was never going to return to the line up) so never committed fully to any other bassist? I like this theory and hope there is something in it.

Graham may not have left behind a large body of work but he was a core contributor to the greatest debut album ever. That's a pretty cool legacy IMHO.

I am glad that Graham's tribute has been well received for his sake. I wouldn't be too hard on the official sites as there have been reasons to delay this.

I can assure you that the BF.com tribute will be well worth the wait.

J.O'B.

Great tribute John.

I would love to have seen the short film ‘Nothing But The Magnificant’. Are you still in contact with the film makers? I wonder if there is any way it could be made available for Roxy fans to see it :?:

8-)

I think that is so. Interestingly, For Your Pleasure featured John Porter on Bass, another member of The Gas Board.
The door was always open for Graham to return, hence the "temporary" bass players. However, I think that having no permanent bass player did help take them to "other places" in recording sessions. I think that the bass on all of the studio albums is terrific.

This will be the one and only post under this name. Website won't let me in through normal procedure. I must be under the scrutiny of the B.F. police again.

I think, and I have yet to get it wrong, we will see some sort of Roxy Music re-union in honour of Greame. If we take it right back to (when we were young), Ferry and Graeme formed Roxy. Ferry, nor the rest of the band will not be lost on that.

Great tribute boss.

If anyone can guess what I would normally post under, I will stick £20 in the first charity box I see in the main street.

It won't be him selling the Big Issue outside Greggs. I said to him yesterday, I said "knock knock" he said "who's there?" I said, I thought you were homeless?"

Please don't let me tell you the joke about Mystic Meg's pants.

Nice to be able to let my hair down.

Viva!

I reckon you're probably Sadie's Boyfriend (I think there was a stylistic giveaway in there somewhere, boss!)...

Charitable donations may be good for the soul, but don't part unnecessarily with funds you'll need for the boxed sets! :o
