Sad to hear that the composer of Same Old Blues (covered by BF on TBSB) has suffered a fatal heart attack at the age of 74.

Perhaps better known as a composer than performer (e.g. Eric Clapton recorded After Midnight & Cocaine, while They Call Me The Breeze was covered at different times by Lynyrd Skynyrd & Johnny Cash), he was a fine guitarist who appeared in at least one of EC's Crossroads Festival DVD sets.

A fear of flying contributed to the rarity of his UK visits (last one was around 1995 apparently), but hopefully his songs will live on as staples of live sets by the likes of EC & BF.
