A similar event took place in London in 2001 it was called A Mad Affair.

The Dutch tribute band' Re-make/Re-model came over and played. There were prizes etc and it was quite a good evening.

I think a venue outside London would be hard to raise enough interest as there are plenty Londoners but for non Londoners it is generally easy to get there. I live in the Highlands and London is easier for me to get to than say Newcastle Manchester Leeds etc. I am sure this is the same for most people unless they live near a city.
