As human beings we are all somehow hunters and gatherers 8-) .

I am almost sure that the members of this forum have collected every note that has been recorded by our favourite band Roxy Music. At least the studio albums. Plus one or more live recordings - or even bootlegs.

But what about Bryan Ferry’s now and then widely spread rarities and b-sides? Do you collect everything you can get incl. „Lowland’s Low“, „The Lambton Worm“, „Dance With Life“ or „Mamouna (EP)“ from Japan?

I own some PM/801, AM and Eno CDs, but it’s a rather incomplete collection ... mostly caused by Brian Eno’s creativity.

What do you collect? More Roxy, more Ferry, other musicians that got involved with the band (Wetton, Carrack) ?

Which tracks are you missing in your collection? For myself it’s „I’ll Forget More Than You’ll Ever Know“ from „Frantic (Japan)“. And I hope to find „Love War“ (Alphaville Sessions) on one of his future releases :P .

Thanks for posting in advance - pianoman -

I own the complete Roxy Music canon on CD, including stray tracks, edited versions, etc. Being somewhat of an audiophile, I researched and sought out the best available pressings of each disc. I also own all of the major books and DVDs, plus a few nice pieces of memorabilia.

The only Roxy disc I still want is the SACD of Avalon; bit pricey that one, but I'll get it eventually.

I recently re-bought Bryan's 1970s solo albums on CD, but after that period my interest in his solo work is markedly diminished.

My collection of live recordings, of both Roxy and Bryan, is fairly comprehensive.

I like Eno's work in the 1970s, and some of the Manzanera stuff, particularly 801, but don't own any of those albums at the present time. I saw a lovely collection of Eno and Manzanera vinyl at a collectors' fair last weekend, but it was overpriced, IMO, and I don't collect vinyl these days in any case. I'll have to pick those albums up on CD at some point.

Thanks for your reply, Peanut.

I am into Hi Fi - High End, too. As far as I know, there were only 3 SACD records by Roxy/Ferry: Avalon, The Best Of RM and Boys & Girls. I own the Roxy ones, B & G wasn't my favorite Ferry album.

I still own the first two Roxy Music albums on vinyl as well as the original Virginia Plain single record with the Island Records label - but I never got back into vinyl ...

The most complicated purchase of a BF record was "Mamouna EP" - with gems like "As The World Turns". I bought it from a Japanese dealer via eBay but the shipping worked without any problems.

And for the future I hope that there will be outtakes of BF (and even RM) or die-hard fan editions to complete my collection :)
