In addition to the topic started by John about Other bands of interest I'd love to hear some of your favourite music (or see some of your favourite videos) other than BF and RM.

Since Bryan Ferry's concert in Munich 2013 has recently been broadcasted by a German radio station and I'm a huge fan of Curtis Mayfield, I'd like to open this with Curtis Mayfield's "Move On Up" (which Bryan covered in Munich):

(P.S.: to make this thread digestible I suggest we proceed in small steps and post no more than a handful of links at a time. Comments and explanations about the songs and what they mean to you are also appreciated.)

Another one of my greatest heroes is Al Green. Here's a link to a really cool live recording of "I'm so Tired of Being Alone" from a tv show named "Soul School" in 1972:

I'm so Tired of Being Alone

And a live performance od "Love and Happiness" on Soul Train:

Love and Happiness

And here's a 73 minutes live concert from Soul! in 1973 (in the beginning that video is a little lame, the interesting part starts at about min 6:25):

Al Green on Soul! 1973

IMNSHO Al Green is one of the best singers of all times. If I had to go to the famous desert island and I had to choose between the collected works of either Bryan Ferry or Al Green .... I'm not so sure

... why not choose "Take Me To The River" by Al Green - Bryan published a wonderful cover version on "The Bride Stripped Bare". That's when genius meets genius 8-) .

:D Yes, that's a nice one, too. It's from his 1974 album "Al Green explores your mind". Bryan Ferry covered it only four years later. Here's a nice live video:

And now for something completely different

Soni Soni from Mohabattein

Yeh Ladka Hai Allah from Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham

I kid you not, I really love these songs and the movies. On my first journey to India I always felt a certain urge to strangle the taxi drivers for turning on that music. But somewhen on my third time in India I started to ask them to turn up the volume. Just around this time I also started to love the complete overdose of sugar they put into the Chai 8-)

Hmmmm.... still nobody talking to me? Allright, I'll just keep talking to myself then... :D

This is a song I absolutely love. It never fails to make me feel happy, right from the very first note:

David Sylvian 'Secrets Of The Beehive' the sort if album I wish BF would make.

Dark melancholy acoustic and all originals.

Such a wonderful record. I never tire of it, even 25 years on. Unfortunately, Sylvian's most recent work, in his quest to create "ART" is rendered unlistenable.
