Been away from here awhile, sorry.
The great news is Field Music have a new album out called Commontime.
I bought it 20 minutes ago and have just played the opening track "The noisy days are over". Frankly, this song alone is worth the album price...class.
Windswept2, you will love the jazzy sax break.

It's beautifully packaged too.

Another one in the back of the net for Sunderland.

We need them!

Well done Brewis boys.

So glad to have you back
Dear Rendezvous!

I just love Field Music as well
Listening to Sugar Maroon Five...

Interesting selections Sonnet18.
I have fairly mainstream tastes. My favourite discovery in recent years is the magnificent Jack Savoretti. Of his first three albums, the debut 'Between the Minds' and third outing 'Before the Storm' are sublime. The fact it wasn't until his fourth album, 2015's 'Written in Scars' that he made a breakthrough is testament to his perseverance, hard work and the unerring ability of British audiences to spot genuine talent. I can't recommend him highly enough.
Currently enjoying Chris Isaak's new album too.

I hadn't heard of Savoretti - I've just given Tie Me Down and Written in Scars a listen, very good stuff. Thank you for bringing him to my attention. I am holed up writing, methinks Mr. Savoretti will be my writing company today.

8-)

I am a little bit late to welcome you in this forum, sonnet18, but better late than never ;-) Your range of different styles from Chopin to Alison Krauss (I love her music, too!), from Emmylou Harris to Edith Piaf sounds very interesting. Good to have you here 8-) .

Hello pianoman, and thanks for the nice welcome. I've enjoyed reading through this thread - an interesting subject, what other sorts of music RM/BF people are into. 8-)

I'm currently completely blown away by Rachmaninov's All-Night Vigil. I've heard it first on this year's BBC Proms and since that I'm completely addicted to it. I'm almost not listening to other music anymore

If you want to give it a try, here's a link to the complete playlist of one of the finest recordings available - by the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir. It features Vladimir Miller, who is said to have one of the lowest voices in the world:

And this is one of my favourite passages, near the end of the ninth canticle:
