After a 40 year break ABBA has release Voyage. I like it, especially Don't Shut Me Down. - I had been a fan of the band during my youth even if they were so different from Roxy Music 8-) . But there are some parallels: Roxy's last album Avalon was release in spring 1982. ABBA's last songs had been released in autumn 1982 (Under Attack etc.).

Just imagine what Roxy could give to their hard core fans in 2021: 8,9,10 songs, Bryan's achy-breaky voice, a little bit of Andy and Phil and a lot of session and tour musicians. Even worse than Avalon, which included tracks without important members of the band. Do we really want this ... ? - p -

I'm not sure what you mean by "even worse than Avalon."

I loved a lot of ABBA songs but feel the digital imagery is a bit Power Rangers meets breakfast tv fitness celebs.

[quote="rendezvous"]I'm not sure what you mean by "even worse than Avalon."

I am afraid my words could have been a bit mistakable  .
Avalon is a great album and More Than This or Take A Chance belong to my all time Roxy favourites.

But Avalon included a (btw very fine) BF solo track: To Turn You On. Without Andy and Phil. Phil had to arrange with a second guitarist (Neil Hubbard) on almost every track. A lot of (very competent) studio musicians (Paul Carrack, Neil Jason etc.) contributed to Avalon. And no TGPT, but that's a different story ...

So it was the last (but not the worst) Roxy album but somehow the sixth Ferry album, too - IMHO.

My reflection was how a new Ferry album could sound: Some tracks include Manzo. And some other guitarists, too. Some tracks include Andy, if he is able to play. And a lot of other musicians as always. But we shouldn't expect a new Roxy album only because of Phils contribution :? .
