A fantastic evening at RHA!
Highlights (in my opinion): NYC. This song benefits most from the jazz orchestra.
Take a chance with me. One of RM;s best songs ever.
Carrickfergus. Was i the only one who got tears in the eyes?
Reason or rhyme. I simply love it.
Is Ollie Hendrix the most talented guitar player in UK?

Cher Roxy,
Great shot and yes, I adored the Flappers.
From a visual perspective the show was a cinematic dream. The backdrop visuals were absolutely stunning. Les Girls did a great job — dancing and dresses off the richter scale and our hero's suits were both on the button.
I just love the effort he puts into these elements. His sense of style and glamour are integral to the music. As a life long Mod I've never gone for this dress down schtick. It makes my day when performers treat their audience with respect and express a little style.
For Geordie's favourite son excellence is definitely a voyage — not a destination — and it shows. He's always pushing the boundaries. Who else would have come up with 'The Jazz Age'?
Brilliant — we are so lucky to have him.
Regards,
Windswept

I am really glad that somebody else feels this way. I made basically the same point after seeing the Glastonbury gig. Since then I think that the only comment that NYC has attracted is that it is a good candidate to drop out of the set to create space for something else - so I was starting to doubt my first impression of the current tour's take on this song.

Mes Amis,
Indeed, the finely tuned ears of renowned Roxologists are something to behold - NYC benefited hugely from this arrangement as did Carrickfergus. In fact, the whole damn thing is so splendid, Windswept would love our hero to release a live disc along with the AEWBF DVD - perhaps we should start the petition now?
Regards,
Windswept.

A message from our friend Smudge who seems to have been locked out of this thread :?

As you may have read on FB, I'm locked out of this thread! Have successfully posted elsewhere on the forum, but just get repeatedly bounced from Post Reply to Log In for this thread! :o(

Just wanted to say that the large, badger coloured head in the bottom left corner of the photo you posted is indeed Smudge! I should clarify that it is a trick of perspective and my head is not really the size of the RAH's dome! ;-)

Also to thank Avondale for the time-out advice; if only I'd known on Thur!

8-) Roxy, the carrier pigeon ;)

Only seen NYC this time around at glastonbury. I thought it was superb...and I'm looking forward to Brighton enormously now.

Thank you very much, Roxy, for a great pic! I was too busy watching to take photos myself. What a fantastic venue RHA is!
I`ve been attending BF;s concerts in Tokyo, Copenhagen, Paris etc and I have been a fan of his music since I listened to my sisters copy of "These foolish things" as a teenager. RHA might well have been the best show I have ever been to.

I can't take credit for the photograph Oberon, it was posted on Cherisse Osei's twitter page. I have checked back and it says "pic by Amber Guinness".

I also found this one from the other side of the stage on the RAH twitter page.

On youtube "epidemic271" has posted a nice group of clips from the RAH show. They are very good audio: nice balance and no distortion, even when the volume goes way up. Here's a link to ASFE:

The audience is very respectful of the music. Very little whooping and annoying hollering.
