I’m aware the Telegraph newspaper had a review, behind a paywall , however. Anyone seen it. ?

Hi there,

I saw the Telegraph review. Three stars and suggested that perhaps the lyrics would have been better left within the songs.

BF was on Lauren Laverne’s show this morning, chatting about the book and sharing a few of the familiar reminiscences! Always nice to hear our old chum, though, and he generally sounds pretty warm. He had the good grace to admit that some of the lyrics are better than others. Nothing really new though……no mention of his EP…….or of a new Roxy record! He graciously thanked Lauren for playing the whole of Remake Remodel.

Btw, I’ll be putting a snippet on the Manzo section next.

VV

Mes Amis,
Quelle surprise - W2 a l’edition signee et c’est vraiment une oeuvre d’art !
The introductory essay and notes from our hero are well done and it’s lovely just to read the words on the page with or without the music - he is a true poet. The lyrics to songs like ‘2HB’, ‘Mother Of Pearl’ and ‘Just Like You’ are without compare. He really is up there with the Cole Porter’s of this world.
Grace a Monsieur Smudge, W2 listened to Laverne’s Interview. She did a great job and it’s always interesting to listening to his boyhood stories and finding out where all those artistic influences came from.
His mum making tea for the projectionist in the local flea pit - pure class !
Of course some n’er-do-well dialled into the YouTube commentary to say he sounded ‘old’. Really, where do they get these lobotomised idiots from ?
If only we could all mature with such grace and elegance. Windswept lui-meme only manages it every other day.
Salutations et Ferry On ,
W2

Cher W2,
I'm green of jealousy when i read your description of the book. I was too late to get the signed copy. Now I hope thet BF will do a new round of signing - perhaps available at O2.
I like BF;s lyrics best when he, so to speak, paints a small, impressionistic water colour, like Zamba, but also the vibrant, positive ones like Both ends burning and Dance away.
Salutations à tous!

I was a bit too slow off the mark for a signed copy as well but BF was doing a signing recently and there are still copies available at https://www.goldsborobooks.com/product/lyrics
Be quick!

Sorry to hear that. I managed to get one and posted here immediately after, but maybe they were few in number. :(
