For anyone listening on catch up services, it started around 8:50.
No great revelations but good to hear the man. I think there were about three snippets from the album after some earlier classic jazz inserts, but from the short pieces played I can't say I recognised which RM/BF songs they were. On the one hand that was intriguing and suggests the album's arrangements will be all the more enjoyable, but on the other hand my curiosity really has got the better of me as to what exactly I was listening to. Any ideas? (Mind seem blindingly obvious to some!)

Well I managed to listen to it live from the land down under, and was trying to guess what the songs were, but had no idea!

The snippets played did sound very mono-aural, so perhaps they were recorded with the reporters microphone?

I look forward to hearing the new album and my mind being suitably blown :D

Don't Stop the Dance is one of them as the full version is now up on BF.com.

I thought I heard a hint of Virginia Plain on one of the tracks.

Pity during a five minute interview that they couldn't have stuck to asking him about the album!

8-)

Edit: Listened over a few times now and think the opening track to the interview might be Avalon.

Sounds like the sort of album you'd play once ( or possibly not even get all the way through). Still, mustn't be too hasty.......Always good to hear his Kensingtonian Geordie tones, though.........poor interview, even though I normally like that wifie on Today.

First post on this forum, so here goes.

Quite a good interview, although Ferry's reply to the most interesting question: "What do you do now nobody buys records?" was cut short. But, having followed the link to the Bryan Ferry website, you could have put a gun to my head and I still wouldn't have got: 'Don't Stop the Dance'.

For many reasons, this will probably be the lowest selling album of Bryan Ferry's career but it may just be one of the most fun. To be listened to in a convertible driving through country lanes. Although since it's released at the back end of November, probably not for a while.

I think this album may do quite well :) It may not appeal to a section of Roxy/Ferry fans but it could have a wider appeal and perhaps gain him some new fans.

Hi Purl,

I lived there 20 years ago, not far from Jesmond Dene, which is one of the glorious centrepieces of Newcastle, although rather less famous than the Quayside.

It was an interesting little interview with BF sounding on good form, and it was indeed intriguing trying to work out which RM/BF songs the snippets were taken from (I made the first one out as Avalon, and also heard Don't Stop the Dance in there somewhere, possibly also VP?). I think this is going to be a fun album!
