I would vote for Reason Or Rhyme, with This Island Earth a close second....

Thoughts?

Will need a few more listens, but I quite like 'don't stop the dance', partly because I have heard it more than the others I guess, and 'I Thought' - which is interesting, as unlike many posters on here, I did not like the original at all! I like the tempo and arrangement - I wonder what co-writer Eno thinks of it.

I need a few more listens but I am drawn to the mean and moody slower tracks.

I find it most interesting that This is Tomorrow seems to be the one which is most unrecognisable from the original 1977 version. Bryan himself has said in interviews that he is not to keen on this song so he seems to have tried his best to put a different spin on it.

8-)

Reason or Rhyme, This island Earth and just Like You are my favourites on initial listens. I definitely prefer the slower more bluesy tracks, although Do the Strand and I Thought are really growing on me. This is Tomorrow and Virginia Plain are barely recognisable but I do like the retention of the abrupt ending (on VP) to catch out the unsuspecting DJ (although he/she will now work on Jazz FM rather than Radio 1)

This Island Earth is the one for me at the moment.... but Just Like You is also a big fave.

Mes Amis,
Like Roxy, I'm drawn to "noir" tracks and after todays playings I would vote as follows:
1. Just Like You
2. This Island Earth
3. Reason or Rhyme
4. The Only Face
But frankly, they're all good and as with all things Ferry, every time I listen I hear something new. These guys must have had a blast making this.
Regards,
Windswept

My favourite is This Island Earth (a dreamy end-of-party sound that I never want to end), followed by Just Like You and The Bogus Man.

For me it has to be This Island Earth. This version sounds like it belongs to the 1920's and makes The Bride Stripped Bare version sound like a modern cover of a song from the 20's

Reason or Rhyme, followed closely by This Island Earth.

The selection is great and shows that there is a certain patter to Bryan`s output from the beginning till this day. He stands out like a great artist rather than a pop star.
