If "the new Roxy album" wasn`t stopped by writer`s block, what was it then?
Pay attention that he HOPES the new song album will be due next year. 2014 I`d say, to say the least.

I really liked parts of ATGB - Where or When is among the best things he's ever done so I think an instrumental 'jazz' album with a twist could be good - just hope it doesn't get too normalised - Ferry is at his best IMHO when he's slightly weirding it out.
As for the new new one - whilst I hope this will be good, I have always been slightly let down by his original solo albums somehow - again if he experiments more rather than trying to make everything perfect I think it will be good.
As for the timing, the whole Roxy/Ferry promotional saga since around 2006 (new Roxy album, Dylanesque onwards) has in my opinion been a complete disaster for both the band and Ferry - the two are inexorably tied together and it was just a confused mess and full of such complete bullshit to boot.
I spoke to a mate in the industry and we had a discussion about the whole saga - and he's instant thought that Ferry had taken Roxy for a ride but managed to cock up his own thing as well.
As for the writer's block thing - that may have been the initial reason but I think it just became an excuse.
For what its worth I don't think we'll see Roxy performing again and I don't think the album will see the light of day ever - unless someone nicks it from PM's hard drive.
Not on an anti-Ferry rant because I think he is one of the most significant contributors to popular music this country has ever produced.

Excuse for what? - See, I really want to know this, and now I am at the treshold of getting to know...

- Agree, that`s why I hang on in here. However, the world at large doesn`t seem to agree with us. There`s an element that people just don`t connect to.

Exciting news! The last years has been full of positive things; reunion tour with RM, release of Olympia, solo tours, a box set coming soon... Can´t ask for more!

Ageing Hipsters, What marvellous news courtesy of Juan. Two projects in the pipe from Geordie's favourite son - what absolutely brilliant news. I can't wait to hear the Jazz album. I bet it will be an absolute killer. I adored ATGB and I'm sure that any interpretations will have Ferry dust sprinkled all over them. As for a an album of all new compositions - frankly, I think this Ferry is the greatest modern musician that the UK has produced in my life time and his output can only be described as prodigious. I'm excited and I'm going to have a huge drink to celebrate. Regards, Windswept. Ps. Shame I missed the news about the gig in Spain. I'd definitely have voyaged for that - providing he's with the full band.

I, for one, welcome our new Jazz overlord

Fantastic news all round then Just as I thought he was going to 'rest on his laurels' he suprises us all. Working full out I should imagine if all new material. A Jazz one really is 'a turn out for the books'- I'm really intrigued! Think we can safely say though, that these albums might be a year or so out, with his projected release dates. Sorry to be a killjoy but where are the Dvd's of Olympia/RM tour - they could 'have missed the boat' with that one now. Whoever does the marketing needs to be on top of things more. They should have been out there in the stores within the year at least, whilst the interest was at it's peak.Other bands I have seen recently release stuff almost immediately.

As Bryan is a primarily a singer/song writer, I wonder what involvement he will have in a jazz instrumental album. Will he be producer as he isn't a particularly great at playing any instrument?

I find this both interesting and uplifting, as I always do when it comes to Bryan Ferry releasing albums. AND, not to mention, the thrill of it all when he goes on tour, as one should after new albums I like!

Bryan was once asked on a live webcast on BryanFerry.com about 12 years ago what his job description on his passport was, he replied 'composer' J.O'B.
