By my count BF had played 16 concerts in the prior 25 days and 5 in the previous 8 days. That's a lot of gigging...

I hope his throat bounces back for the final group of shows on the Brit Tour '15, but based upon the experience of last fall this is by no means a certainty.

It is getting more and more difficult for BF to go out on the road and string together a series of closely spaced concerts. But, sadly, this is the way to make money in a world where cds, streaming, and downloads just don't generate much revenue for artists.

Hopefully he can finish the tour and then reschedule the RAH show over the summer or as an add-on to the September German tour.

Well the RAH itself will be in use for the Proms from mid July until the 2nd week of September so the latter option seems the more likely, unless they try and find an alternative venue.

Elegantly Ageing Hipsters,

Quel dommage!

W2 feels for the Roxologists who were disappointed at the RAH but the most important thing is that our hero recovers and regains his mojo.

Hopefully it will be in time for the city of sin but if not I'll have to find somewhere else for Mrs.W to promenade. It won't be the same — that's for sure.

We will see — meanwhile, get well soon bonny lad and keep gargling!

Salutations,
W2

At the risk of appearing a tad outspoken, I'm disappointed on behalf of the many fans in London last night that Tuesday is in danger of passing without the merest mention of matters at BF.com or via Bryan's Facebook page.

I appreciate there was an apology on the night, but given maybe three or four thousand people were so greatly disappointed and many would have incurred substantial costs over and above the ticket price (and indeed some will have taken time off work), I'd have thought some further acknowledgement wouldn't have been impossible today.

I sympathise that Bryan is unwell and hope he makes a speedy recovery. My criticism isn't aimed at him but his management - this really isn't that uncommon lately and they rarely seem to handle matters with the deft touch they ought to be capable of.

Wishing Bryan a full and speedy recovery.

I'm sure he has the best doctors and it goes without saying he fully appreciates the disappointment to his audience. His health should always come first. Prognosis and rearrangement of event can take more than 24hours. Patience.

Interesting, I was talking about neither of these things so the advice to have patience is somewhat misplaced.

Actually, I am with UK Richard on this. I am sure Bryan does not operate his own Facebook page or website. If he has been struck down by a throat infection, it would be worth mentioning on one of them and offering an 'apology' - although nobody could possibly blame him for pulling out of a show with a throat infection.

The question is how long do you leave it before announcing the fate of the Brighton and Portsmouth gigs?
I go to a lot of football matches and the biggest criticism levelled at clubs when they call games off for foul weather is not that they have been cancelled but that they wait until the last possible minute when everyone has travelled up for the game to do so.

A throat infection is a serious matter and, given that none of his fans would possibly want him to struggle through a concert, there should be an announcement on the Brighton gig by early afternoon at least to stop people travelling down.

i was going to keep my counsel on the matter but given it's proving such a talking point, i feel obligated to throw my two penneth in...

as someone with tickets for monday's curtain closer in bristol, i do have a vested interest - but the question has to be asked... should monsieur ferry really be exercising such a punishing schedule at 69?

i'd have thought the autumn's cancellations and subsequent premature end of tour might have been a timely lesson...

i went to cardiff and thought the show exceptional - making the point that bryan's voice was as good as i'd heard it for some time. but i really question his promoters...

a tour of a dozen or so dates over a mont/6 week period would have been ample. those who wanted to get to see him, could have made their way and planned accordingly.

acts a fraction of bryan's age wouldn't dream of the tour he's currently embarked upon. full marks to the great man for committing, but perhaps it's time to row back. health comes first - and we the paying punter can work around it.

Apart from in the Evening Standard article those doing the apologising seem to be the venue rather than anyone on behalf of Team Ferry. I imagine managment are currently (a) trying to reschedule the RAH show and (b) holding on as long as possible before pulling the plug on any or all of the remaining shows through to next Monday.

The RAH website cancellation announcement said that ticket holders would be contacted about refunds within 2 days so something should surely be made public by the end of today (Wednesday). Again the impetus coming from the venue rather than the artist's management.

The final say re a tour itinerary surely has to be with Bryan - if the promoters come up with a schedule that is likely to be unsustainable he surely has to refuse to agree to it until it's made less gruelling, given his recent track record re voice problems. I assume that the band are hired for a period of time so they want to condense the schedule as much as possible to save £s and to free the other musicians up to move on to other projects but this does seem to have been an accident waiting to happen. Let's hope for some positive news very soon.

From Team BF:
ollowing further medical assessment yesterday and today, Bryan Ferry’s shows in Brighton (4th June) and Portsmouth (5th June) are regrettably being postponed.

We hope to have news of rescheduled dates before the end of the tour, including rescheduling The Royal Albert Hall concert that was sadly postponed at short notice earlier this week due to emergency medical treatment and diagnosis being given at the venue.

Once again our deepest apologies to the many disappointed fans and for causing inconvenience. Bryan is devastated to have been forced to postpone these concerts after 16 consecutive sold out and critically acclaimed UK shows.

Customers are advised to hold on to their tickets and contact their point of purchase for details about any rearranged date or further information
