At no point did I suggest air-brushing out anything, merely that there are more great photos of BF without cigarettes than there are with. Pictures like ATAP are of their time and that's fine, but this is 2024 when the hazards of smoking are far better understood than they were in, say, 1974.

By all means turn a blind eye to it or what you think is some kind of historic righteousness, but it's tasteless. And that doesn't make me - or anyone else who dislikes smoking, a snowflake.

I quite agree, Richard, and think this is a massive and unnecessary own goal by Team Ferry. For instance Bowie's classic 1975 album Young Americans has him smoking on the cover and no one is suggesting that it should get airbrushed out every time the album gets reissued, but would a new compilation of Bowie material select a picture from the archives like that? I think not.

Ah yes This is Tomorrow - the forgotten hit single, the All I Want Is You of the Ferry canon. When will it get its due recognition?

Thanks for the info John - looking forward to the release.

I notice on another music site I follow that they have been told the box set is ‘extremely limited.’ Do you know just how limited the box set is? Is it limited enough to make a pre purchase just now rather than holding off until nearer the time?

I am not sure how limited it is I will try and find out.

£130 for 5 CDs and a large book seems to be the UK price, which doesn't seem value for money to me. Especially as most of the target audience will have it all (already apart from the small number of unreleased covers).

I would have included 'She's Leaving Home', but still it's nice to see a few previously unreleased tracks.

This one, of course, and I miss 'As The World Turns' - one of Ferry's masterpieces IMHO.

Could it be that 'You Go To My Head' will appear in a new version from the ATGB sessions?

I saw the price of the 5 CD box at the site of a German retailer: 129 €. That's pretty much for a few unreleased tracks ...

It speaks volumes about the excitement level of this product when one of the main discussions revolves around the presence or absence of a cigarette...

So true, Gardner. This package may not be directly aimed at us veterans and ologists.
I also have a feeling that the book that will come with the release will be of the detached quality of a tour book. Fair enough.
I also feel I have recently deep dived into Ferry’s canon with 6 re-masters , sold with new artwork overseen by Bryan Ferry. That was neat.
Plus a yellow Taxi and a deluxe Mamouna.
This Retrospective has its selling points, for sure , and we can still all wish for completely new recordings from Studio One.
Bitter Sweet and Love Letters were great projects, and I know, like UKRichard and others , that Ferry is highly capable of another opus. Whether he is inclined to or not is for him to decide.

That’s why I’d be interested to see just how limited it is. As if there is a fair amount produced then it is more likely to get a price drop like the Avonmore deluxe edition did.

If this is all Bryan has been able to release since Avonmore (2014), it's high time to say goodbye.

After he already had major vocal problems on the Roxy Tour 2022, this is another profound disappointment for me.

I will not buy this CD`s and booklet.

Sorry Bryan and Team BF, but I just had to write that.

And £20 cheaper than Amazon and HMV! I preordered the signed box set and blue and green vinyl bundle - can never resist getting the vinyl alongside the CD these days!

I’ve just noticed when listening to the new song from the collection and looking through the track listing that the songs Feel The Need, Crazy Love, He’ll Have To Go and A Fool For Love all have (2024 version) next to the titles.

Does this mean that they have been re-recorded or newly remastered?
