That is one of my Top Tunes so I'd really have liked to have heard their version. I like Bryan's covers Of Elvis so I'd love to hear him sing 'Can't help Falling in Love'.

I know that I said I would like to hear him cover some stuff from late 70s onwards, but putting that aside, what about Joni Mitchell's River - a truly beautiful song.
Bringing things slightly more up to date, and a bit more off the wall, Elvis Costello is a great song writer (Shipbuilding is just sublime IMHO). Some of his output from his "angry young man" period might benefit from being reinterpreted. Maybe Lipstick Vogue? I think there could be a good song there waiting to be broken out from the full frontal attack mode that EC favoured at that time.

I always though Richard Thompson's For Shame of Doing Wrong would be a good cover for Ferry. Thompson video...though Sandy Denny's version of the song might be a direction that would work for Ferry as a starting point. Denny Video

I'm beginning to wonder where I've been all my life. This is the first time I've heard this song and it's amazing. Both versions are excellent but you are right, the late, great Sandy Denny's version could be an excellent start point for Bryan. The thought of Ferry dust being sprinkled on this sends shivers down my spine. Lets hope somebody latches onto this and puts it in front of him. You certainly deserve several drinks for starting this ball rolling. Regards, Windswept.

Thanks, windswept! I first heard the Denny version about 25 years ago and had this thought imnmmediately. I've been harboring it now it seems forever. The sense of inevitable loss and regret seems perfect fr Ferry to sing about, (again...and again).

I was listening to Horse earlier today. She did a cover of Wild Mountain Thyme and I think Ferry could do a great version of this song.

"Hinny" is a (very old and these days rarely used) term for mate/friend. I remember singing this folk song at school when I was a little kid (along with one that BF did cover - The Lambton Worm). The hinny tune is a very lively foot stomper and it's about 2 geordie blokes in bed (honest), one of them is complaining that his mate keeps kicking him in his sleep, and the other guy explains he was dreaming about dancing with the girl of his dreams. Polish them spoons Helen.....
