Hedonistic Hipsters,
With reviews like this from renowned Roxologists, W2 is having problems curtailing his excitement.
Fingers and everything else are crossed that 'The Bonny Lad's' voice holds up. These back to back fandangos remain a subject of great concern particularly as there are seven shows before the Brighton climax.
W2 doesn't think he could handle another postponement. He'd simply have to cast himself off the end of the pier — particularly after the considerable investment associated with Mrs.W's autumnal wardrobe. Still, things could be worse. At one juncture she was seriously considering a mid set change during 'Tara'. Happily this was averted when W2 suggested that Bryan would not be happy sharing his dressing room and anyway, she'd never make it back to her seat for 'Take A Chance With Me'.
Thankfully things are less complicated for W2 lui-meme. He merely has to press his mid blue A&S cord suit and polish his Berlutis and he's good to go. What's more, the constant rehearsal of 'The Nijinsky Pose' has payed off. After forty years he's mastered the move and now that 'Do The Strand' has made it into the set list he can put it to good use.
Roll on Brighton!
Salutations, W2

Hopefully the nature of the Brighton crowd will encourage our hero to take a few risks in the ArtRock direction. Salutations, W2

I envy you all about to witness the Avonmore tour on its autumn leg. Sadly with the non-rescheduling of London this tour will pass me by but I hope the great man's Hobson's Choice remains strong and the good W2 is not forced to test the waters of the English Channel.

From the review in Die Welt: Quote: Langsam hellten sich die Minen der Getreuen auf, spätestens mit "Out Of The Blue" war das Eis gebrochen, die Fans zückten ihre Smartphones und verewigten garantiert Unvergessliches in bewegten Bildern. I'm unable to give a direct translation of that sentence, it's a weird mixture of metaphors. If google translate comes up with something extra bizarre it's probably because the original German sentence is already bizarre enough as it is. The author describes the concert as if the audience had sat there with sad faces and as if it had taken until Out of the Blue (which was the fourteenth song!) for the audience to warm up, get out their mobile phones and start taking pictures. Which is complete nonsense. Not only is it nonsense to measure the audience's happiness by the number of smartphones recording the concert, after all this is not a concert for teenagers where this might be adequate. It's also not true because around me many people were taking pictures (but almost nobody used a flashlight, which I found very thoughtful). And as to the happiness in the room, just listen to the audience cheering when Bryan enters the stage in the NDR recording and you know what Die Welt writes is a lie.

Guilty! I took 70+ front row photos (without flash of course)...
"Die Welt" part of the "Bild" group.. what does one expect?
The Hamburg Audience was "man-of-the-match" and Bryan was obviously surprised and very pleased - the applause and cheering was well earnt by the Great Man!

German quality paper 'Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung' is no friend of Bryan, too. Last year they picked 'Avonmore' to pieces, this year they simply ignored his concert in Frankfurt. I bought a copy every day but Bryan wasn't worth a single line to them . Thank you also for your links, StephenPep. In my mind the NDR film takes me right back to my concert in Stuttgart - Bryan Ferry was simply brilliant!

Cher True2Life, This is too sad particularly now he appears to have got the band sorted. Is there nothing available for Brighton? As you know, the train service to the city that permanently helps the police with their enquiries is very good. Failing that, I hope he finds a London venue. They must be looking and if it's small, W2 hopes that haunters of this hallowed cyber hall get first dibs. Bon courage et salutations, W2
