I have seen a few positive comments about the show last night but no reviews so far. A very short video clip online shows that Jealous Guy seems to have been added. The following comments were made by Miniluv over on the competition thread which might answer a couple of your questions:-
Quote:
Many thanks John I picked up my signed programme from the merchanting guys at the Cambridge show. They do a great job keeping the bustling fans happy around the packed stall.
Brilliant show, better than I anticipated, Ladytron and Beauty Queen worked well at the beginning and the quite reserved crowd (all those academics in Cambridge!) were on their feet at the end. Not only that but the musicians all seemed to be having a lot of fun, especially Fonzi beaming away at the side of the stage.

Looking at a shot of Bryan on stage at Belfast I would say the new suit looks like it might be made of moleskin fabric or a very, very fine needlecord.

8-)

It's a pity that no YouTube videos have appeared yet from the tour.

Have seen John's video of 'Beauty Queen' that he posted on FB but nothing from the other fans that were there.

I realise that I don't post here as often as I should - sadly life gets in the way, but thought I should pen some words re last nights concert in Oxford. The set list was the same with the addition of Jealous Guy as a final encore. Bryan's voice and indeed diction was so much better than I was expecting and the band were full of energy. It was lovely to see Lucy Wilkins on violin ( yes she played with supreme style on Bete Noire and no , sadly there was no " Out of the Blue " to let rip on ) and both she and Jorja made a huge contribution to the success of the evening. Its hard to pinpoint a favourite , but I did enjoy the back to back renditions of Beauty Queen and Ladytron.

I agree to a certain extent with the post by Jerry Nunn re the set list . I too would love to hear : This is Tomorrow; All I want is you ; Sentimental Fool ; Another Time Another Place, etc etc . There is a huge back catalogue out there and I cannot be the only one who is tired of " Lets Stick Together ".
To Windswept2, I can answer that the sound is excellent . There are no dancers and not much of a video backdrop - just some swirly circles ! The lighting is clever but a little grumble here - its quite dark and you cannot see the band members very well.

Finally, about 40 people gathered outside the stage door afterwards and we saw the singers and Neil , but rather annoyingly the chauffeur pulled the car right up to the door and Bryan swept out and into the car and away with the quickest of waves. I have met him before , but I felt sorry for some of the people who said they had been waiting 40 years to meet him. My hubby said he should have spent a few moments with his fans - after all we have been devoted for a very long time and I am inclined to agree particularly with what happened next ! In a bizarre twist, we set off up a side street , returning to our car park, when I nudged hubby and said in astonishment " that is Bryan's car !! ". Sure enough , it was and it remained parked for at least 20 minutes whilst I and 2 other fans wondered whether to tap on the glass and decided it was probably best not to. He was on his phone and it transpired that he was waiting for his sons to emerge from a pub !! Isaac turned up and put his bag in the boot and then another son turned up ( not sure who it was as we had continued walking away by then ) ,got in the car and it finally sped off. I expect Bryan had some words to say to them , keeping him waiting like that, but on the other hand , he could have spent that time talking and greeting his fans ......

However, a great concert and a different feel to AEWBF so yes he has changed direction again. I do hope this isn't his last ever tour though ....... there is still plenty to offer.

So Cambridge being my 19th concert from Bryan (with and without Roxy) I have to say that it was one of my favourites, outstanding from start to finish. However I too would have rather of had a few different numbers than 'My Only Love' and 'Avalon'. This echoes the disappointment I felt during the 'Frantic' tour when these numbers were played a year after the 2001 reunion.
Anyhow small complaints aside I thought Bryan was in fine strong voice and was actually singing certain parts unaccompanied where I thought accompaniments would be needed. The band were strong and full of energy and gave the songs the kick they so deserved.
The tour book is another gem, even if the album write ups are identical to the last two tour books, it is nevertheless worth having for the collection and especially alongside the last three superb presentations.
In the tour book we welcome back Lucy Wilkins and also Natalia Bonner who wasn't at Cambridge, but my guess is she may replace Lucy further along the tour. All in all another wonderful chapter in the forty four year journey so far.

Based on the set list and beauty queen smartphone video, I'm excited about this tour.
So glad to see BQ in the list. loved the lighting, electric piano, vocals and lift off noise section...all good.
The set list is interesting with a generally noir vibe to it...exactly what I wanted this time. absolutely delighted.
Rock on Brighton !

Mes Amis,

A great intervention from 'praire rose' - W2 is delighted that she had a great evening.

It doesn't surprise that Lucy Wilkins and Jorga played such pivotal
roles in the gig.

Depending on the set list, a solitary horn player can work — it doesn't have to be the line up of horns that TBFO offered — but without strings it runs the risk of going back to being 'lite' and the beauty of both Jorga and Lucy is that they are both great multi-instrumentalists.

With regard to the set list itself, W2 in keeping with many vivaroxymusic columnists yearns for a more purist selection but supposes that the perennial problem is pleasing the casual fan.

Finally meeting the fans can, I suppose be a bit fraught if it's unexpected — maybe he just needed a rest after the thousandth rendition of 'Let's Stick Together'.

Looking forward to Brighton.

Salutations,

W2

Cher LondonPubs,

Pleased you enjoyed it. Quick question on the tour book — does it feature new photographic work or is it a montage of previous shoots?

Salutations,

Windswept

Dear Windswept,

There are some recent pictures in there I haven't seen before. There's a double spread live shot from AEWBF and another large one from what could be last years US dates. Also some live shots from the 'Olympia' tour which are quite nice. I've checked through the last couple of tour programs to compare and the album writeups are the same as the 'Olympia' program. It is worth getting for the collection even though some of the material has been included previously, however it will look nice alongside the others.
I now wait impatiently to for London date.
