I wish I could say that I like ATGB, but I find it generally unlistenable. BF's version of These Foolish Things on the first album is very good. And Smoke Gets in Your Eyes off the second is among is great tracks. But ATGB comes across to me as pretentious.

But hey, different strokes for different folks...

Indeed, ATGB isn't for everyone. I like big band & used to teach ballroom, so I love this album, plus I'm a hard-core romantic. And no, I never get tired of the tango.

Being big-time fan of Roxy & Bryan, they could all sneeze in unison with a good beat & I'd listen to it.

What's all the big fuss about commercials anyway ? He studied under Richard Hamilton who introduced the world to POP art - Surely this is just an extension of these interests - If Warhol had exhibited Oreos instead of Brillos quite a few people would think it was cool....

BF is not alone in doing commercials, corporate etc. There is a big market in this now. There was a time when a lot of artists would not have done this sort of thing including Ferry, but then there was a time when people went into Record/CD shops and bought music. There is a culture now where too many music listeners want free music and it's easy to be passed a DVD-r with the top 50 albums on MP3 or all the other ways of getting music free.

He (or she) who has not sinned may cast the first stone.

I'm all for Bryan getting more listeners. I always play Roxy & Bryan's
music to my family & friends. Even though I won't be able to get the imagery of that commercial outta my head, so be it.

I don't see anything wrong with it at all. If more people hear his music, it may lead to more sales. He's getting less and less TV and radio exposure these days,so any exposure is good ! Within limits of course !

And if you've spent lots of time, effort and money in the studio, you would want your end product to be as accessible to as many people as possible. TV and Radio ? Some of my mates didn't even realise that he was touring last year to promote a CD. And a few years back,David Williams didn't even know he was in Roxy Music !

Lots of people haven't heard of Roxy or Bryan. There's so much trash out there these days, and bands come & go.

Since it's Roxy's 40th anniversary, they should consider doing some Internet marketing & buy some media on the major news & music outlets.

Good luck to 'em all. In one way, anything is welcome which relieves the commercial pressure of having to maintain an estate nr Petworth and a mega-pad in London, enabling a more experimental approach to any upcoming musical releases. Just glad it was Oreos, not Werther Originals ;)

I was out grocery shopping with a friend last night.
I turned around & she had in hand a box of oreo cookies!
Limited Edition encased in gold packaging with birthday
candles on it no less. In some small way, I'm sure it:

"relieves the commercial pressure of having to maintain an estate nr Petworth and a mega-pad in London."

I'll thank my friend for you Bryan!

Pass the milk! (2%)
