Good Early Afternoon to all Fellow Roxyologists and Ferryistas. This is Lori. I am not able to watch Bryan Ferry's Set from last Night's performance on The West Holt's Stage at this Years Glastonbury Contemporary Music And Art's Festival. I have tried the few options that have been made available. NO sucsess! I do not know how to use proxies.
So As A New Member to This very exclusive Family Here I am asking any and all Fans Here Who have recorded this performance on Your DVR'S Or Your TIVO Machines to PLEASE scan and post it to You Tube for me to be able to SEE/HEAR it! I thought of few other avenues that this coould have been broad casted For U.S.A. fans The A & E Network Or The Bravo Net Work, Or on AXS T.V. Network.
I just HOPE and PRAY against HOPE that His Up-Coming performance at This Year's Henley Festival will be broadcasted on You Tube This is the ONLY way That I as a State-Side Fan can SEE/HEAR this. Bryan Ferry's 45-60 Minute Set from The Proms In The Park Festival at Hyde Park can still be seen on You Tube. I really enjoyed it!
Some Fan was kind enough to scan and post it there in it's entirety! I as a very angry and frusterated Fan from The U.S.A. will NEVER be able to SEE?HEAR Bryan Ferry in Concert on T.V. in My Country or be able to SEE/HEAR Him in Concert live.
You fellow Fans Who inhabit this hallowed and Sacred Cyber Hall of Justice Who can do both are so very lucky!
It defies reality and logic How He is defying His Age at present!
You Go Bryan! Continue to knock Them DEAD!
Show People what a REAL Artist with a REAL Band can Do!
I very humbly thank any fan in advance Who can scan and post Bryan's entire Set performance from last Night's Glastonbury Festival on You Tube very much!
Sincerely Yours to all, Lori.

“What’s the difference between Bryan Ferry as a solo artiste and Roxy Music? Well it has to be said that over the years the it’s been pretty blurred at times. In the early days of both his solo recording and performing career many of Roxy’s members were present in support, particularly TGPT and to some degree Phil Manzanera. The “In your Mind” album and tour showed a slight change in direction with the introduction of Chris Spedding, but many of Roxy were still in the wings, including TGPT, Manzanera and John Wetton. The real departure from this formula came with “The Bride Stripped Bare”, where American session musicians were the order of the day. Pretty underrated offering, but it might be argued that the disc lacked something. Also, when they reformed Roxy were starting to do covers and “Avalon” features a track without either Andy or Phil.

What confuses the issue even more is material. Roxy had always played Roxy songs until the “Siren” tour, when the solo tracks “Hard Rains” and “The In Crowd” appeared. Then Roxy material started creeping into the solo gigs.

So onto the 2014 Glastonbury performance. It started with the classic, but shortened “Remake/Remodel”. No disrespect to Cherisse Osei, but this track is nothing without the powerhouse drumming of TGPT and so it failed for me. “Kiss And Tell” and “Slave To Love” were little better, but fortunately things picked up with “Ladytron”, while “If there is Something” continued the improvement with a rousing finish. “In Every Dreamhome” again lacked something in atmosphere, probably because Phil, Andy and Paul were not performing on it (compare this version to that performed by Roxy on the Jonathan Ross show).

As the gig progressed, more and more Roxy material kept coming and over 80% of the songs performed during the gig were Roxy tunes. Jorja Chalmers played Andy’s parts pretty well, while Guy Pratt and the introduction of Spedding moved us more towards a Roxy sound.

Even though the start was stuttering, in all honesty I couldn’t say that I didn’t enjoy this gig. However, why play so much Roxy Music material if we were supposed to be watching a Bryan Ferry gig? In my opinion Roxy songs don’t sound like Roxy without Phil, Andy and Paul. Does Bryan have an issue with his own solo material or did he know that Roxy songs would be better suited to a festival, as are Roxy Music as a band. Time to remove the blurriness Bryan - Roxy songs at Roxy gigs (if there are ever any more) and solo material at your gigs please!”

Hipsters & Diletantes Of All Persuasions,
Showering praise is my greatest pleasure — nobody deserves it more than our hero and last night's performance was certainly good and doubtless impressed the average Glasto camper.
Was it a great, ground breaking set of the standard set by recent tours, particularly AEWBF and BFWS, not I'm afraid in the humble opinion of Windswept.
There were highlights, the set list was pretty good and 'Casanova' with Chris Spedding's slide guitar was a stonker but outside of that I have to say, I'm finding the current guitar set up a little "Roxy Lite" (™.DJC).
No doubt they can play the tunes but when I compare them to the likes of Manzanera,Thompson,Spedding,Green (RIP),Hubbard or Williams (RIP) there is a gap and I have to say I'm missing Colin Good's fabulous key boards. At the end of the day I suppose it's all about adding value to the songs.
a bien tôt,
Windswept

I cannot really talk about Glastonbury because I wasn't there and couldn't see the broadcast in Germany on time (although J.O'B. and Lonely Dreamer posted ways to get it).

But Roger has put it straight: I know that many of the regular V!RM posters don't like "Olympia" very much - but to me it sounds very "Roxy". Probably because when I listen to Andy's oboe in "Heartache By Numbers" or "Song To The Siren" I always get goose bumps.

Andy's characteristic way of playing the saxophone, Phil's atmospheric guitar, Paul's powerful drumming, Eno's synth treatments and Edwin's masterly violin created something special and perhaps unrepeatable.

Of course there are so many perfect young musicians in the world - but a band that accompanies Bryan Ferry when he is performing Roxy Music songs can only be a talented cover band - IMHO - sorry.

What strikes me is how much shorter most of the songs are getting and the fact that despite a change of band, the playing is much the same Jacob Quistgaard especially being too close playing wise to Ollie Thompson and Chris Spedding I'm afraid being criminally under used. I'm guessing that any between songs banter was edited out of the tv broadcast as there seemed very little communication from BF.It was good to see Guy Pratt, Steve Jones the girl singers Cherisse and Paul Beard enjoying themselves. If BF is going to spend so much time on keyboards as he is at present, would it not be a good idea if his keyboards were front of stage as they are with Elton, Billy Joel and most piano playing front men?

Hipsters,
It's a broad church and there will be a multiplicity of opinions.
Doubtless our hero tailored his set for a generalist festival crowd that are not necessarily devout Ferryistas or Roxologists and he succeeded in vamping his way through a show tailored to serve all styles and certainly pleased the audience.
And I don't belong to the school that nobody can add value to the Roxy back catalogue. Anybody that went to last year's AEWBF shows, listened to the Tollwood broadcast or went to Dublin would have experienced simply stunning arrangements and performances of both Roxy & solo BF material that took many songs to a new level.
My point is this new line up is not delivering that yet. It may do in the future but solo (without the Rte) that frisson is yet to arrive.
If the idea is to strip it back after the glory and sophistication of TBFO then they need to heavy up and give it more depth. Spedding's slide playing on 'Casanova' being a good example of what I'd like to see.
a bien tôt,
Windswept
